When you watch Candace Cameron Bure on TV, she never seems to age, but it turns out she has been married to her husband, Val Bure for almost 30 years. Meanwhile, they also have three children.

While she is well known for her role as DJ Tanner in Full House, she also starred in the popular Hallmark Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, Christmas Under Wraps and many more. She recently starred in her first Christmas movie for Great American Family after leaving Hallmark Channel.

On that note, recently Candace caused controversy by saying that Great American Family’s Christmas movies will only feature “traditional marriages.” Meanwhile, that statement was a jab at Hallmark’s inclusivity policies when it comes to their movies.

Meet Candace’s husband Valeri (Val) Bure

As noted by Parade, Candace has been married to her husband, Valeri Buri, 48, for almost 30 years. Besides being a devoted husband, Val (as he is known for short) is a former pro ice hockey right winger. In fact, he played in the National Hockey League for 10 seasons. Among his teams are the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, and Dallas Stars.

Val was born in Moscow, Russia on June 13, 1974, making him a Russian-American. Moreover, it seems his athletic skills are inherited from his father, a freestyle swimming and fitness coach for the New Jersey Devils. Meanwhile, his mother is Tatiana Bure, but little is known about her and Val has one brother, Pavel Bure, 51, also a former pro hockey player.

When did Candace and Val tie the knot?

Val and Candace were married at the age of 22 and 20, respectively, in 1996, just a year after Full House came to a close. Meanwhile, the Great American Family actress spoke of Valeri in a 2019 interview with Us Weekly. She described her husband as being “bold” and said he makes her laugh a lot “which is a very good quality.” Candace went on to say:

He’s just such a bold person. We always have interesting conversations. I love his passion and his strength so very much. He’s so supportive of me and our children.

Talking of the children, Candace and Val have three. The eldest is Candace-lookalike Natasha, who is an actress like her mom, while their sons, Lev and Maksim both play hockey like dad.

Meanwhile, Candace made her Great American Christmas debut in the movie A Christmas… Present on Sunday, November 27, where she co-starred with actor Marc Blucas.
