Miranda Lambert – On The Road Trip That Should Have Happened

For the first time in Lambert’s busy career, she has kept an entire month free of any schedule in order to enjoy the season.

After writing her album “Palomino” around a road trip she couldn’t take at the time due to the pandemic, she’s finally hopping on a camper and riding cross-country to see what she can see.

She’s heading west in her Airstream with her husband, alongside friend and backup singer Gwen Sebastian and her husband, who also owns a camper.

“It’s so far from Nashville that I never had enough time to like, get there,” Miranda said, explaining that to enjoy the sights, they have allowed two days in each place and they’ll wind up through Colorado, Utah, Montana and Wyoming for 20 glorious days.

She called it the longest trip she’s ever made in her camper. “I’m very, very excited about that. It’s such a different way of seeing the world.”

Lambert’s eighth studio album, which arrived last month, debuted at the top of both the U.S. and U.K. charts, earning the fourth spot in general on Billboard 200 chart. The album includes fan-favorite “Actin’ Up” and more.

The 38-year-old singer co-wrote every song on the 15-track album, many with Natalie Hemby, who was there when a map inspired “Palomino”.

Miranda Lambert – As For The Album Sound, Miranda Lambert Said She Wanted A Combination Of Bluegrass And Texas Country Roots.

“We were like, ‘Maybe it’s like a theme?'” Lambert said. “So, we went with it, and we just started going through the map, honestly. We made this whole record of road trips, and it was during a time where we weren’t able to go on any road trips because it was in 2020. It just sort of came together as this traveling vagabond vibe.”

Miranda Lambert – Opens Up About Writing Songs That Are Different To How She Feels At the Time

At a younger age, Miranda Lambert used to think that she would need to live through every song she wrote, which she described as “a terrible way to go.”

Now, she’s matured up to the point where she can take on a character or imagine new places and write a song from that perspective.

“Any kind of artist will live in the darkness because they’re using it for art,” she said. “But at some point, I can actually be happy and be functioning and doing life and get in a writing room and go somewhere else in my mind or heart.”
