‘Modern Family’ Alum Sarah Hyland Signs Up For ‘Pitch Perfect’ Series

Hollywood news and updates tease that Sarah Hyland officially became the newest cast member of the Pitch Perfect spinoff series.

As reported by The Wrap, Sarah Hyland, the former Haley Dunphy of Modern Family, will join Adam Devine and Flula Borg in the Pitch Perfect 3 franchise. According to Susan Rovner, the NBC Universal Television and Streaming’s chairman of entertainment content, the production was thrilled to work together in the making of the series.

“When we saw the opportunity to create a series for Pitch Perfect with executive producers Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, and Paul Brooks, plus more earworm classics for super fans to enjoy, we jumped at it,” Rovner said.

Hyland will give life to the role of Heidi, an energetic but bizarre American assistant, who works on Bumper’s (Adam Devine) by day, and “secretly harbors dreams of being a singer-songwriter herself and moonlights by performing original songs in a Berlin cabaret.”

Delighted by the news, Hyland brought her excitement on her social media account and shared a selfie alongside a screenshot of The Hollywood Reporter article that shows her involvement in the upcoming Pitch Perfect series.

She captioned, “Aca-scuse me?! Reuniting with @adamdevine??? Sounds like Treble!” A lot of fans and Hyland’s celebrity friends expressed their enthusiasm in the comment section, sending her loving congratulatory messages.

Actress Kim Daugherty commented, “Yeeesss!!! That voice needs to be heard!!!” One fan wrote, “Omg! I’m freaking jumping! Yes! I can’t wait.”

The series follows the storyline of Bumper, who will take risks in Germany to bring life to his music career when one of his original tunes makes it to the top of the music charts in the capital.

In other news, Sarah Hyland talked about her struggles with physical and mental health after her kidney transplant procedure. In her recent appearance on the Quitters podcast alongside her Modern Family costar, Julie Bowen, the 31-year-old actress shared how her work was affected before her first transplant.

“There are some episodes of Modern Family where I do not remember filming because I was asleep,” she said. Hyland mentioned that she needed to reach a certain level of sickness before she will undergo a transplant. “When I reached that certain level of sickness, I was not able to be awake for 8 hours at a time. I was so exhausted all the time,” she added.

The Pitch Perfect star also shared her depression when her body rejected the first kidney and had to undergo another transplant. However, after the struggles she has been through, Hyland confirmed that “everything is stable as of now.”
