Nicole Kidman Will Flex Her Legendary Acting Skills In New TV Show

We’ve seen Nicole Kidman play almost every character in the book, from a creepy wellness coach to nailing superstar Lucille Ball in a biopic, but perhaps this new role is one we aren’t really expecting from her. Not now.

Nicole Kidman – To Play A Darker Sophisticated Character In Upcoming Series

Although a regular on Australian TV in the ’80s, Nicole Kidman took a 28-year hiatus from the small screen to focus on her feature film acting. Even though 28 years is too long, or too short – depending on how one chooses to look at it, especially since other stars in her league take longer to appear on TV again – she’s since appeared on several series following her return.

Within four years, the Oscar winner has appeared in such TV projects as “Big Little Lies”, “Top of the Lake: China Girl”, “The Undoing”, and “Nine Perfect Strangers”.

As if we weren’t satisfied with all she’s been dishing out, we hear that she will be playing one of the main characters in an upcoming Paramount drama, titled “Lioness”. Her character, Kaitlyn Meade, is a CIA operative who’s a “cutthroat” when she needs to be.

The show is inspired by the real-life CIA Lioness Program, which is made up of female US Marines needed to conduct on-the-ground searches for women in Iraq and Afghanistan, as it’s in line with local customs that prevents men from touching local women, while also gathering intelligence.

The show is set to follow “Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within.”

Kidman’s Kaitlyn Meade is “the CIA’s senior supervisor who has had a long career of playing the politics game. She must juggle the trappings of being a woman in the high-ranking intelligence community, a wife that longs for the attention she herself can’t even give, and a mentor to someone veering suspiciously close to the same rocky road she’s found herself on.”

Apart from starring in the show, Kidman will also executive produce the project.
