Olivia Munn Jokes That Figuring Out How to Use A Baby Wrap Is ‘More Difficult Than Origami

Olivia Munn, known for her role in X-Men: Apocalypse, is still figuring out one particular parenting skill. The actress, 44, recently took to Instagram on Sunday, October 6, to ask fellow moms for help with properly using a baby wrap.

Munn, who welcomed her 3-week-old daughter, Méi, with her husband John Mulaney, shared her struggle as she tried to wrap Méi securely against her chest while moving around.

Munn and Mulaney announced the arrival of their daughter Méi on September 22. Munn posted a touching Instagram photo from the hospital, showing her holding her newborn while sitting on her husband’s lap. “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon ,” she captioned.

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE magazine that they are “in total bliss with Méi and Malcolm.” The insider added, “After everything they have been through, there’s no tighter, closer little family.”

In a video, Munn, dressed casually in a white T-shirt and glasses, admitted, “I know I’m doing this wrong, which is why I’m not letting her go.” She explained how much she’s always wanted to master this skill, ever since her first child, Malcolm, who is now 2 years old, was a baby.

“But I have wanted to do one of these mom wraps since Malcolm was a baby, but I could never figure it out. It’s so difficult”, she continued, referring to the couple’s 2-year-old son. “If you don’t know what this is, it’s a big, long cloth that you wrap around and it holds your baby tight to you and you can be hands-free — but I just can’t figure it out”.

Munn humorously acknowledged how challenging the task is, comparing it to origami, and praised mothers who are skilled at it, calling them “queens.”

Despite watching numerous tutorials on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, Munn confessed she still hasn’t gotten the hang of it. “This is so difficult. It’s more difficult than origami”, she continued. “It is so crazy. I don’t know how to do this. I’ve watched every YouTube, Instagram, TikTok. And moms will tell you that it’s not difficult but it is. It’s so hard”.

Her post prompted many fans and fellow moms to offer helpful advice on baby-wearing techniques.

One Instagram user suggested Munn visit a local sling or wrap library, where experts can guide her. They commented, “If you struggle with the wrap, you could always use a carrier. You can find ones suitable for newborns, and they are very easy to use.”

Another mother shared their own experience, explaining that a baby store tied the wrap on them and provided a hands-on demonstration until they perfected it.
