The robbery took place back when the star of “The Three Musketeers” Orlando Bloom was still married to his ex-wife Miranda Kerr. Orlando was unfortunate to be one of the victims of the criminal group known as The Bling Ring.
Back in 2009, the bandits who call themselves The Bling Ring robbed the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor of his 10 expensive wristwatches which the actor said he bought for each movie he starred in.
The infamous group which consists of Alexis Neiers, Rachel Lee, Nick Prugo, Courtney Ames, and Diana Tamayo has successfully robbed different celebs off their expensive possessions, Orlando inclusive.
Orlando Bloom — How Orlando Went On A Rescue Mission
On Thursday, Feb. 16, Orlando revealed in “The Late Late Show With James Corden” that he managed to get some of his items in a very peculiar way. Just like in the movies, Orlando found himself going on a rescue mission to recover his stolen items.
Speaking with host James Corden, Orlando said the thieves, “Took a lot of things. It was a really weird situation, what they did find was a stash of watches I had.” Adding that the stolen watches were very expensive and that when he purchased them, it didn’t occur to him to have a separate safe for them.
Orlando then went on to reveal how he caught wind that his wristwatches were gradually re-surfacing in the market. “Three months after the robbery, I got a phone call from a guy who I’d actually bought some of the watches from saying, ‘I think your watches are surfacing.'”
“So I go and meet the guy and he goes, ‘I think you can probably get them back if you wanna [makes payment hand gesture]. And I was like, ‘What? I’ve gotta [pay]?'” He said.
Continuing, Orlando said, “I finally get the number of this guy. I’m calling this guy for maybe three to six months. Eventually, I find out where he’s from. It’s a pawn shop, down in The Valley, kind of thing. I just rocked up to his shop one day and I wired myself. I had a little microphone.”
Orlando Bloom — Orlando Was Eager To “Go! I’ll Rough Some People Up
After revealing that he got himself wired with microphone, James and fellow guest Niall Horan were bewildered by the news.
Orlando then shared that he got the idea from a detective, “I called a private detective! And I said, ‘What do I do?’ And he said, ‘Just get one of those little voice recorders. Get one of these and do it.’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ So I go down there, just me.”
“I was like, ‘Listen, no police, just I’d like to get my watches back,’ and he goes, ‘Listen, I’ve got to go around. I’ve got to rough some people up.’ There’s this whole story. I’m like, ‘Wait, what?’ I said, ‘Well, let’s go! Let’s go! I’ll rough some people up. You ready?’ Essentially, he goes, ‘I can’t do it right now,’ so I leave.”
Orlando detailed that he was on his way to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family when he was called back by the vendor to come pick up his watches. On getting there, “On the table in his office is a box. I open it and I just started to cry,” said Orlando before adding, “I got ’em back and that was that.”
