Kathy Blasts Her Daughter Paris Hilton’s Husband Carter Reum For Being A “Groomzilla”

Paris and her mother had a big disagreement about why Carter Reum should be so involved in the wedding and why he’s the one calling all the shots.

During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, Kathy Hilton revealed that the tension even led to some name calling.

The conversation started when Paris shared that her mom called Reum “the octopus” and a “groomzilla” due to his rather active involvement in their nuptials.

“Because he’s got his mitts into everything,” Kathy chimed in, before going on to share how Reum got around to really offending her.

“She goes, ‘Mommy, he means well,'” Kathy recalled of Paris’ reaction. “But he was offending me. He was calling the cake place. He was calling the band. He was calling the party planner, the hotels, everything. I said, ‘This is not normal.’ He even picked out the invitation and the save the date cards.”

Defending her fiancé, Paris, 40, noted: “He’s just very responsible, very organized, and we’re not.”

Paris’ extravagant wedding, which featured some high profile performances and famous guests, is the main focus of a new Peacock reality series “Paris in Love”. The series will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look on Paris and Reum’s nuptials. The Hilton heiress and Reum, both 40, tied the knot in November, before jetting off for their honeymoon, which took them around the globe.

Kathy Hilton Hill Warns Carter Reum To Stay In His Lane

Before the marriage drama officially unfolded, there were hints of tension within the family in the clips released before the wedding. Scenes of Reum calling the Beverly Hills Hotel and asking to meet with the wedding planner created tension between him, Paris and his future mother-in-law.

“I’m the final call — whoever writes the check. I mean, do you know what I’m saying?” Kathy said. “This is like, my wedding too. How do you think it makes me look and feel when the son-in-law-to-be has already called over there?”

Paris, who didn’t agree with her mother, reminded Kathy that it’s her wedding they’re planning. “I love my mom, but I don’t know how she’s got it in her mind that my wedding is her wedding,” she told the cameras. “I don’t want to be mean and hurt her feelings, but like, I’m the bride, you’re the mother of the bride.”

When Paris Related To Reum That Her Mother Wanted Him To Stay “In His Lane”, He Chimed In On The Affairs Too.

“Well, the thing is, I’m happy to stay in my lane. We just need you and your mom to get into a vehicle and start moving in your lane. And that lane seems like there’s a car accident and no cars are getting through,” he joked. “I’ll tap her in, tell her Carter will stay in his lane. I just need someone else to go in the lane to start doing stuff.”

The road to the altar might not have been smooth sailing, but it doesn’t mean that both families aren’t happy to be coming together in matrimony. Paris especially made it clear that romance has changed her life for the better.

Kathy is also proud of her new son-in-law and commended him on the day of the wedding. “He is so kind. He treats her like a lady. He’s just wonderful. He’s upbeat… His family’s wonderful… We’re a very big, happy family.”
