Piers Morgan Goes Off On ‘Arrogant’ Alec Baldwin Amid Manslaughter Charges

Let’s just say that he’s not a fan of his movies, nor is he a fan of his personality, either. British television personality Piers Morgan has made it pretty clear that he is no fan of Alec Baldwin, and especially now that he refuses to take any responsibility in the fatal death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust. Here’s what you need to know.

Hutchins was shot and killed by Baldwin on the set of the movie, even though the actor maintains that he never pulled the trigger. One of the counts is for involuntary manslaughter, in which prosecutors will have to prove there is underlying negligence. The other charge is involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act. Baldwin could face up to five years in prison.

Of course, Piers Morgan sure did have something to say on the matter. He wrote on Twitter, “Wow….massive blow to Baldwin who has maintained an arrogant refusal to accept any responsibility for firing the gun, and insisted on playing the victim.”

Many of his followers commented with, “Any person handling a firearm needs to also check to see if a gun is loaded or if the gun is supposed to have blanks does in fact have blanks. No matter what the person said that handed it to you,” along with, “In most jurisdictions, armorers are very strict even with imitation firearms. In the US with their gun culture it seems that reckless weapon handling is rife. Easily could’ve been avoided with proper weapon handling training.”

What’s Next For Alec Baldwin?

Another critic wrote, “How is he arrogant about it ?! Thinking it was an accident on his part as he wasn’t aware it didn’t have blanks and ammunition for the set ! Being charged it doesn’t mean he’s guilty of a crime.”

And then there was this comment, too: “He should be! Hollywood elitist freak that is anti gun but have no problems having a real gun on set, taking zero responsibility and filming movies about gun violence. Hypocrite and a murderer.”

Interestingly enough, Baldwin did reach a settlement in the Rust shooting back in October of last year with Hutchins’ estate. This came after a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against the actor and others, according to a statement released by the actor’s attorney.
