Reese Witherspoon Reacts To Kevin Costner Romance Rumors: ‘Friends With Benefits’?

Reese Witherspoon and Kevin Costner recently sparked romance rumors. And the gossip soared that the Legally Blonde actress and Yellowstone actor had begun an affair.

Kevin Costner reportedly has begun evaluating new projects. And among them, the Yellowstone actor allegedly began discussing one of those projects with Reese Witherspoon.

However, that report led to rumors that the two had begun a relationship.

But now Reese has denied those claims via Pop Culture. And the Legally Blonde actress said through her spokesperson, “This story is completely fabricated and not true.”

However, social media took the rumors and ran with it. For instance, podcast host Rob Shuter conducted a poll about the rumors of a romance between Costner and Witherspoon. And a fan of the relationship posted, “Kevin Costner is dating Reese Witherspoon? What??? You go boy!!! You go girl!!!”

But the rumors seemed to begin from the fact that both the Legally Blonde star, 47, and Yellowstone actor, 68, just went through divorces. Reese had filed for divorce from husband Jim Toth after 12 years of marriage. And Costner finalized his divorce from Christine Baumgartner. The actor and his wife had wed in September 2004.

However, Baumgartner took the initiative in filing for divorce from Costner. And she sought joint custody of their three kids Cayden, Hayes and Grace. But Costner responded and a legal war began. However, Baumgartner did receive a settlement.

But rumors in October claimed that Costner and Baumgartner started a so-called “friends with benefits” relationship in the wake of their divorce. However, an insider denied those rumors. And the source revealed, “Christine said there is not a blip of truth about she and Kevin toying with the idea of being friends with benefits.”

The insider continued, “First off, they barely speak to each other and secondly, she’s moved on.” But the source admitted that the holidays would become “challenging.” For instance, Thanksgiving represented “such a big deal to do with the family. But she’s staying strong and moving forward.”

As a result, the insider expressed doubt that Costner would reconcile with Christine. “A lot of hurt on both sides” exists, according to the source. And she still feels “disappointed that Kevin and his legal team painted such a horrible and untruthful picture of her. Christine said she’s relieved to have her own space and knows in her heart that she made the right decision.”

However, the source shared that Christine “hopes to one day have some sort of relationship with Kevin, but it’s going to take time.” And Baumgartner currently stays focused “on her kids and creating a new home.” She also has considered a career in interior decorating, which represents “a passion that makes her happy.”
