Rose McGowan Shares Her Biggest Regret In Her Friendship With The Late Shannen Doherty

Rose McGowan Shares Her Biggest Regret In Her Friendship With The Late Shannen DohertyIn the latest episode of “Let’s Be Clear,” the podcast started by Shannen Doherty before her passing, Rose McGowan shared her reflections on their relationship.

Doherty, who passed away at 53 in July after a prolonged battle with cancer, had a complex but ultimately reconciled relationship with McGowan, who replaced her on the TV show “Charmed” in 2001.

McGowan’s Heartfelt Expression Towards Late Shannen Doherty

McGowan, now 50, expressed her regrets about not having had more time with Doherty and not participating in the podcast with her.

She noted that their publicized relationship made their private time together all the more precious. “I do regret not doing the podcast with her, but at the same time, having that period of time just for us was really special,” McGowan said.

Reflecting on their shared experiences, McGowan acknowledged their mutual disdain for what she termed “corporate feminism”—a term she uses to describe superficial activism focused on publicity rather than substantive change. Both women, she noted, preferred directing over acting and shared a sense of being outsiders in their field.

Reflecting on Final Meeting with Late Shannen Doherty

McGowan recalled their final meeting about a month before Doherty’s death. They spent an evening together for the first time in 25 years, which McGowan described as both “wholesome” and “sweet.” “We actually didn’t want the night to end. It was so cool,” she said, describing their deep and personal conversation during that time.

During their last encounter, Doherty mentioned starting an experimental treatment for her cancer. McGowan expressed her apprehension about the treatment’s efficacy and noted that Doherty seemed genuinely scared. “She looked frightened for the first time. I gave her a big hug and told her I loved her,” McGowan shared.

Tribute To Shannen Doherty

In honor of Doherty, her former “Charmed” cast members will pay tribute at 90s Con, a fan convention taking place next month in Florida. The event will feature a live taping of the “House of Halliwell” podcast with Holly Marie Combs, Drew Fuller, and Brian Krause.

The convention organizers, Christina Figliolia and Liliana Kligman, praised Doherty’s impact on fans and expressed their honor at being able to celebrate her life and legacy.
