Why Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones Won’t Be appearing In The Revival

The 10-episode revival titled “And Just Like That…” won’t be seeing Kim Cattrall return to reprise her role as Samantha Jones, one of the main original characters.

Explaining Cattrall’s absence in the forthcoming revival HBO Max season, HBO’s president of programming, Casey Bloys, said that the network definitely isn’t trying to have the starring women repeat their “30’s” again, instead, they want to show how much has changed since fans left the show behind in 2004 when it concluded.

“They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s.”

Touching on Samantha’s absence, he continued, “just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave.”

“Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.”
