Flashback To Selma Blair’s Terrible Breakdown That Saw Her Yell “He Burns My Private Parts” On A Plane

Selma Blair has had her share of ups and downs like the rest of us – the only difference is that hers tend to provoke more public reaction. Six years ago, the “Cruel Intentions” star had a very public meltdown on a plane that saw her scream, “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink. He beats me. He’s going to kill me,” in the presence of her then 4-year-old son.

After being removed from the plane on a stretcher, she was rushed to the hospital, where she received the necessary treatment. The star would later on go on to confirm that she was okay and explained why the horrific and embarrassing situation occurred.

“It’s a regrettable thing,” she told PEOPLE at the time, reflecting on the incident which took place on a plane as her, her son and husband were flying back to Los Angeles from Cacun, Mexico. “Mistakes happen.”

She added: “I’m recovered, and my family is fully recovered. We’re doing great. I’m doing great, I’m taking care of myself. It was a one-time accident.”

While taking full responsibility for it, she also shared her regrets that she let herself fall prey to the substances that led to the meltdown.

“I am someone that should never drink and I rarely do — I don’t drink anymore — but I did,” she said on The Talk the following October. “I was going through something, I had a glass of wine, someone gave me a pill that I thought was something I had taken before, which I don’t take on a regular basis, it was something completely different. Very bad choice. And I had a total psychotic blackout.”

“It was horrible and frightening,” she said on the talk show. “I had empathy for myself actually afterwards because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother.”
