Sofia Vergara’s Ex-Husband Joe Manganiello Accuses Her Of Lying About Reason They Divorced

This is a little awkward to write. Okay, remember when Sofia Vergara told us that she and her husband of 7 years, no less, Joe Manganiello are divorcing because he was trying to pressure her into having more kids when she doesn’t want to?

Now Joe is here and he’s telling us that he’s not some freak suffering from mid-life crisis that would demand that of someone he loved.

So what’s really going on here, a classic case of misunderstanding? Anyway, let’s find out, shall we?

Joe Manganiello Slams Sofia Vergara’s Divorce Story: “Simply Not True”

After 7 years of marriage, Joe and Sofia called it quits in 2023. With a 32-year-old man to call son, Sofia felt she was past the time to become anybody’s mother. In fact, she felt that she would be better off becoming a grandmother.

However, according to her, Joe kept disturbing her about having more kids, wo much so that she simply had enough and decided to call the whole thing quits.

However, in an interview with Men’s Journal, Joe revealed that the conversation wasn’t as simple as that.

“We did try to have a family for the first year and a half,” Joe explained in the interview published July 16. “And we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated. I said, ‘If you’re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I’ll know what this is, and that’s okay.'”

Joe, who recently debuted his new romance with Caitlin O’Connor, added, “And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.”

After describing Sofia’s version of their divorce narrative as “simply not true,” Joe, 47, said that the reason behind the whole thing was thay they were two people who grew apart.

“To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis,” he continued, “and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’? That’s never who I was.”

When Vergara opened up about their divorce earlier this year, she chalked it off to his desire to have kids.

“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” the 52-year-old told Spanish newspaper El País in January. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
