Stanley Tucci Couldn’t Get a Job Even After Making The Devil Wears Prada

Stanley Tucci Couldn't Get a Job Even After Making The Devil Wears PradaStanley Tucci recently opened up about the unexpected challenges he faced in his acting career after his acclaimed role in The Devil Wears Prada.

Despite the film’s immense success, Tucci, now 63, revealed in a Vanity Fair interview that finding work afterward was difficult.

“After The Devil Wears Prada, I couldn’t get a job, and I didn’t quite understand that, but that’s just the way it was. So I went and did stuff that I didn’t necessarily want to do, but I did it,” Tucci shared while promoting his latest project, Conclave.

Reflecting on His Career

Under the direction of editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), he portrayed magazine art director Nigel Kipling in Prada, who assisted the lead heroine Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) in navigating the fast-paced fashion world.

The David Frankel-directed film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $326 million globally and earning Patricia Field and Streep nominations for Best Costume Design and Oscars, respectively.

Reflecting on his career, Tucci mentioned, “My career has always gone through these fluctuations, and sometimes it’s just the business.” He elaborated that personal challenges, like his 2017 oral cancer diagnosis, also played a role. “Having been sick six years ago, that threw a wrench into the works for a while, and then you slowly get back,” he said.

Despite feeling the need to work due to financial pressures, he acknowledged that he resumed work “probably too soon” after his treatments, saying, “I didn’t really have the energy to do it after the treatments, but you had to do it, and eventually, you climb back up again.”

The actor’s career resurgence has included diverse roles in films like The Witches, Supernova, and his new food and travel series Tucci: The Heart of Italy with National Geographic. He also starred in the Emmy-winning Searching for Italy, showcasing his passion for food and Italian culture.

Tucci’s Uncertainty In His Appearance in A ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Sequel

When asked about his possible appearance in a Devil Wears Prada sequel, Tucci was tight-lipped, noting, “I can’t answer that. No one will let me answer that.” Although he remains uncertain about returning, he expressed enthusiasm, saying that if it does happen, he “would be happy” to be involved.

This reflective period and newfound success highlight Tucci’s adaptability and resilience, showing how he has navigated the highs and lows of Hollywood while sharing his love of food and culture with the world.
