Steven Tyler Accused Of Gaslighting Underage Julia Misley

In December, Julia Misley, formerly Julia Holcomb, filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against the Aerosmith frontman. Steven Tyler pushed back on the claims by insisting that the affairs he had with her can’t be classified as abuse because she consented to it. Here’s the story surrounding the whole case.

Steven Tyler – Denies All Allegations Of Abusing Julia Misley When She Was A Minor

Steven Tyler, 75, is denying all allegations that he abused a minor. Last week, the Aerosmith lead singer filed a response to the lawsuit brought on by Julia Misley via Los Angeles County Superior Court where he shared a lengthy set of defenses against the accusations leveled against him.

In a push back, plaintiff Julia Misley’s lawyer slammed the performer and accused him of simply “gaslighting” her.
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Tyler asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed, citing that he had immunity since he was her legal guardian at the time the alleged events happened.

He also made it clear that she was a consenting party in their sexual relationship. The response filed by Tyler listed 24 affirmative defenses denying all of her allegations. He claimed that Misley “has not suffered any injury or damage as a result of any action by Defendant,” and “if it is determined that Plaintiff has been damaged, then any such damages were not caused by Defendant.”

What’s Julia Misley’s Relationship With Steven Tyler?

This is coming three months after Misley – who Tyler had a sexual relationship with in the ’70s – filed a lawsuit against Tyler alleging sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The case was filed just days before the Dec. 31 deadline which lifted the the statute of limitations on reporting childhood sexual abuse crimes.

Even though Tyler did not identify the plaintiff by name, Misley’s claims align with what he had written in his 2011 memoir “Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?” about having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

In the complaint, Misley said that Tyler used his fame to get her mother to grant him guardianship over her when she was only 16 years old, and that he used this power to have a sexual relationship with her. According to her, she could not resist him because of his “power, fame and substantial financial ability.”

This aligns with a part of what Tyler had written in his memoir, where he said that he “almost took a teen bride” because “her parents fell in love with me, signed a paper over for me to have custody, so I wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me.”

Following Tyler’s response, Misley’s attorney, Jeff Anderson, wrote: “He’s heaping more pain on Misley and gaslighting her by falsely claiming that she ‘consented’ and that the pain he inflicted was ‘justified and in good faith.

Never have we encountered a legal defense as obnoxious and potentially dangerous as the one that Tyler and his lawyers launched this week: Their claim that legal guardianship is consent and permission for sexual abuse.”
