“Superman: Legacy” Could Tap Nicholas Hoult To Play Lex Luthor

You probably didn’t miss the very public drama that DC unveiled last year following the crash of their new superhero franchise “Black Adam.”

Henry Cavill‘s Superman cameo in “Black Adam” should have launched him for a return, but the change in management, and some background quarrels with Dwayne Johnson, led to Cavill being axed from the role.

But what is DC without its strongest superhero right? So now, they’re searching around for the next actor brave enough to fill the cape.

Casting For James Gunn “Superman: Legacy” is Underway: See the Contenders

According to reports, “Superman: Legacy” will launch James Gunn and Peter Safran’s chapter in DC Studios.

“Superman: Legacy” Could Tap Nicholas Hoult To Play Lex Luthor

Already, search for the stars that can bring the famous comic characters to life is underway, and while there’s a list of names who are strong contenders for Clark Kent aka Superman and Lois Lane, there seems to be one name that’s eyed to play the bald psychotic villain Lex Luthor.

Nicholas Hoult is that name, and you might have seen him recently in the vampire horror movie “Renfield.” And while Hoult has wowed us with his good guy characters in the past – Jack in “Jack the Giant Slayer,” Beast in the X-Men franchise – he’s really delivered as a bad guy in the past. Don’t believe me? Watch him in Angelina Jolie’s “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and you’d be totally agreeing with me.

With such versatility, who elese to play devious old Lex Luthor than him? I mean, the studio definitely sees the potential. “The studio has loved him since Fury Road,” a source said.

Hoult previously lost out to “Twilight’s” Robert Pattinson for the role of the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves‘ “Batman.”

Other Names Associated With Gunn And Safran’s “Superman: Legacy”

As for the person that will play the titular superhero, a list of names has been dropped, with “Pearl’s” David Corenswet reportedly making it into the screen test round. Other names that have been dropped into the mix include Jacob Elordi, Tom Brittney and Andrew Richardson.
