Taylor Swift Appeals To Her Fans To Show Ex- John Mayer Some “Kindness”

The “22” singer Taylor Swift is doing her best to curb online bullying from her fans to her exes, especially after seeing how far her fans went in bullying one of her exes, Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal in 2021 after she released her re-record version of “All Too Well.”

When it comes to heartbreak songs that point fingers at exes, no one does it better than Swift. Although Swift has never openly acknowledged her songs to be directed at any particular ex, her fans think they know better.

With her “Speak Now” album set to release on July 7, and Swift’s fans anticipating “Dear John,” the “Style” singer took a moment during her Eras show on Saturday night to appeal to her fans to show “kindness and that gentleness” to her musician ex John Mayer.

Mayer who is 13 years older than Swift dated in 2009, when Swift was 19 years but the relationship didn’t last long. The following year Swift released a hit song which referenced her painful relationship with Mayer.

Speaking to the crowd on Saturday, the “Bad Blood” singer said, “I was hoping to ask you, that as we lead up to this album, I would love for that kindness and that gentleness to extend onto our internet activities. Right?”

She continued, “I want to own my music and I believe that [those] who have the desire to own their music should be able to. What I’m trying to say is, I’m putting this album out because I want to own my music. That’s why I’m putting out this album.”

Swift went on to add, “I’m 33 years old. I don’t care about anything that happened to me when I was 19 except for songs I wrote and the memories that we made together.”

She rounded up with, “What I’m trying to tell you, is that I am not putting this album out so that you can go and should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 million years ago. I do not care. We have all grown up. We’re good.”

Meanwhile, Swift’s plea seems to have fallen on deaf ears as her fans kept on trolling Mayer with comments like, “Sorry mom said we can’t bully you anymore, (she was 19…)”

Someone else said, “Mother told us we can’t bully you anymore… but she also told us to speak now and I have to speak now and say don’t you think she was too young John?”

A third said, “I wasn’t at the concert so mother wasn’t talking to me ‍♀️ … count your days John.” the next commenter chimed, “Aw you guys are so sweet helping him count his days bc he clearly can’t count the age gap…”
