Amber Heard Mingles With Pals At First Event Since Depp Trial

Since losing her defamation trial against her former husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has stayed under the radar. But the actress’ new film gave her a reason to return to the public spotlight.

And Heard, 37, looked delighted as she mingled with the cast and crew for her new movie, In The Fire. The Aquaman star stepped out at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy just prior to the supernatural thriller’s premiere, noted Page Six.

Heard kept her style simple for the event, choosing a wrap-around skirt and plain white T-shirt. Striding along in black heels, the actress let her blonde hair curl loosely. But Amber likely will choose more formal attire for the red carpet premiere of In The Fire with her co-star Eduardo Noriego and the movie’s director, Conor Allyn. In The Fire features Amber in the role of a psychiatrist. But the professional faces a challenge in seeking to figure out the problems of a disturbed child amid allegations that the child is the devil.

Heard made her return to the public spotlight more than 12 months after the trial. Depp’s lawyers successfully offered proof that she defamed the actor in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed about sexual violence. As a result, Heard was told to pay Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages. However, the jury gave her $2 million in compensatory damages for her counter lawsuit against Depp.

Amber Heard Denies Quitting Hollywood

However, Heard then asked for a retrial. And she claimed that there was not enough evidence to support the judgment. But Amber later dropped her appeal. And she shared on social media that she chose to settle the defamation case with her former husband. “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth,” noted Heard. “And in doing so my life, as I knew it, was destroyed. I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession.”

But Heard later faced extensive trolling on social media. And after the trial, she moved to Madrid. Some reports even alleged that the actress quit Hollywood. But in a TikTok video, Amber slammed those reports. And she shared that she looked forward to several new projects. “I keep moving forward,” summed up the actress about her future plans. “That’s life.”
