The Menéndez Brothers Risk Assessment Revealed Ahead of Resentencing Case

The Menéndez Brothers Risk Assessment Revealed Ahead of Resentencing CaseAccording to the DA, Clemency evaluation has assessed the risk the Menéndez Brothers would pose to the public if released, and found it moderate. The conclusion was reached after California Gov. Gavin Newsom asked for a comprehensive risk assessment.

For those that are unfamiliar with Lyle and Erik Menéndez’s story, they are two brothers who got arrested for the 1989 murders of their parents Jose and Kitty Menéndez.

Recently, Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monsters’ has seemed to turn public attention towards them once again, and not to add even bought them some public affection, not least from Kim Kardashian. The story that they killed their parents to escape from a lifetime of sexual abuse struck so many forcibly, even though the police deemed that they killed their parents in order to inherit their father’s vast wealth – father being a Hollywood exec.

As the days draw nearer to the resentencing they no doubt would have been looking forward to with mingled hope and dread, their psychological report has been made public, allowing us to discover even more interesting parts of their personality.

Lyle Menéndez’s Records Reveal Narcissistic Tendencies, Even Though He’s Never Been Violent In Prison

Since California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the brothers’ resentencing, one of their biggest opposers has been the new Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, who deemed that the brothers are unfit to rejoin society even after spending over three decades in prison.

A hearing has been set on May 13 and 14 by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic, and if they should be resentenced, the brothers would basically qualify for immediate parole.

Risk assessment scores inmates based on their threat level. This ranges from low, moderate to high.

While Lyle Menéndez has never engaged prison fights, his psychological report declared him “narcissistic” and possessing “antisocial characteristics,” and even though he has a low prison violation score, Hochman insists they’re not ready to follow rules.

“If someone is willing to risk a rule violation while involved in resentencing, what does that say about conforming to standards of law outside a structured environment?” Hochman recently told reporters.
