Travis Scott just returned to Instagram in the wake of the Astroworld Festival tragedy. But although the rapper may have thought a photo of his daughter with Kylie Jenner would soften hearts, he got slammed instead. Do fans think that Travis has exploited his daughter? Or do the rapper’s followers believe Scott should hold off posting on social media as families still mourn their losses?
Find out exactly what Travis wrote and what fans say. Plus catch up on the latest news about Astroworld, Scott himself, and his baby mamma below.
Travis Scott Fans Slam ‘Rest In Peace To Lives Lost’
For nearly eight weeks after the Astroworld tragedy, Travis Scott maintained social media silence, noted the Sun. The rapper devoted that nearly two-month period to facing blame for the deaths of 10 people and hundreds of injuries. But now Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy decided to say farewell to 2021 and welcome 2022 on his Instagram Stories.
One photo featured Kylie’s and Travis’ daughter Stormi. The 3-year-old posed in a cute red cap, tiny black boots, and a comfy coat. Scott followed that photo with a selfie. In that picture, the rapper, 30, sported dress pants, a blazer, and a shirt.
But few of Travis Scott’s followers gave him a warm welcome back. “New Year, new Travis,” wrote one. And another added, “He is back!” For every fan cheering, though, multiple followers took the opportunity to bash. “Rest In Peace to the lives lost at Astroworld,” wrote one critic. And another chimed in, “So we are acting like nothing happened anymore?”
How Have Travis Scott And Kylie Jenner Reacted To Astroworld?
In the wake of the tragedy, both Travis and his baby mama Kylie did share reactions. Scott responded first with an Instagram post. The rapper described himself as “devastated” over the deaths and injuries. And in response to Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña labeling Astroworld as a “mass casualty,” Travis sought to defend himself.
“My fans really mean the world to me and I always wanna leave them with a positive experience,” wrote Scott. “And anytime I can make out anything that’s going on, I stop the show and help them get the help they need, you know?” In addition, the rapper claimed that he had never imagined that deaths and injuries would occur at his festival.
But those at the festival and the families mourning the deaths of loved ones slammed Travis’ response. They alleged that the rapper had continued to perform even as the audience screamed with panic and pain. In response, Kylie Jenner defended her daughter’s father on social media.

“Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway by yesterday’s events,” wrote Jenner. “I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing…”
