Usher Had To Fight Justin Timberlake For Justin Bieber

Usher has been the talk of the town since his Super Bowl Sunday performance, and so has Justin Bieber for that matter.  Even though the Biebs never even stepped foot on the stage with Usher. 

Now, all sorts of gems are being revealed about Usher and Justin Bieber’s history together.  In fact, Usher says he had to fight Justin Timberlake in a bidding war over Bieber at one point.

Usher And Justin Bieber’s Long History

Over the years Usher and Justin Bieber have referenced their long time friendship, and Biebs has even credited Usher with helping him reach super star status. 

Usher has referred to himself as Justin’s mentor, and he signed Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun on to his personal label in 2008.

Usher and Justin have heated up several stages together over the past decade and everyone was hopeful Justin Bieber would join him for the half-time show.  But, he didn’t. 

It was later revealed that by Page Six that Justin was “not feeling it” and has been struggling with anxiety.

So, what does that have to do with Justin Timberlake?  Well, Usher revealed in an interview this week that he actually had to duke it out with Timberlake to sign Justin Bieber back in 2008. 

Imagine being in middle school, and the next thing you know Justin Timberlake and Usher are fighting over you?!

“When you are at the top of your game, some of the greatest things will be presented to you, and it was, I think, right after my album ‘Confessions’ that I was introduced to Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun,” Usher told People.

“I presented Scooter an offer that I felt like he couldn’t resist.  We built a friendship, but this would obviously create a partnership that would span us forever, and it was a bit of a bidding war between me and Justin Timberlake.”

Can you imagine how different Justin Bieber’s career would be today if Justin Timberlake had beat out Usher?  Would he have been more or less successful?

    Justin B has anxiety (he had said this for years) and health issues which didn’t let him finish tour but he’s doing well now he just didn’t want to take attention away from usher’s moment at the Super Bowl

    Bieber was always gonna be successful bc he has the voice
