Whoopi Goldberg Delivers A Subtle Shade At Former Co-host Meghan McCain

Apparently, Meghan McCain has been right all along, her former co-hosts when she worked at The View, never career about her. The Emmy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg, 66, who is well known for always having issues with Meghan live on air during their time as co-hosts, was asked in a recent interview with Page Six on Oct. 1, how the show had been since Meghan left over a year ago, and Whoopi replied “It’s calmer, because nobody wants to be that tired every day, I think [the show], it’s better. I feel it’s better, but I’m still tired!”

It’s obvious she’s insinuating something from the comments she made, it’s clear that Whoopi is throwing a subtle shade at Meghan which isn’t a surprise one bit as Meghan cited Whoopi as one of the reasons why she quit her job at The View.

What started as an ordinary banter between the two later became a serious issue as Meghan who detailed her experience working in the View as that of working in a toxic environment in her 2021 memoir Bad Republican explained how the Sister Act star contributed to her quitting her job after four years of working in the show.

According to Meghan, oftentimes when Meghan would be contributing her opinion to something, if her opinion is not in alignment with that of the actress, Whoopi shuts her up embarrassingly, this abrupt cut-off by Whoopi to Meghan has occurred several times that we have lost count. Meghan said this takes place mostly when the discussion is centered on politics. “Occasionally, if the show’s political discourse veered into territory that she found disagreeable, Whoopi would cut me off, sometimes harshly.”

Two years before Meghan quit her job, this episode took place in 2019, the co-hosts were having a discussion about the ex-president, Donald Trump, when out of the blue Whoopi shuts Meghan up with “Girl, please stop talking! Please stop talking now.” Meghan told Variety later that same year that, that shutdown from Whoopi marked the beginning of lack of respect from the actress to her, although Meghan acknowledged Whoopi apologized to her the next day for her action.

Meghan sure had her reasons for saying The View is a “toxic work environment” for her, Whoopi isn’t the only co-host Meghan had issues with when she was working on the show, co-host Joy Behar is also on her list, and the actions of Joy was the last straw that broke Meghan, and caused her to quit.

Here’s what happened, after Megan gave birth to her baby girl Liberty in September 2020, she took just three months for her maternity leave before she resumed work. During an argument with Joy, Megan interrupted Joy but Joy yelled at Megan saying that she wasn’t done talking, and with that, Megan jokingly told Joy, “You missed me so much, Joy. You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. You missed fighting with me.”

The response shattered Megan to the extent that she broke down on air, she cried so much that when she got to her office she called her brother to explain what happened. The most painful part for Megan was that during her stay off the show, she missed the show and her co-hosts, she saw them as family, and getting to hear that none of them missed her, not even one person and that she got to find out about it on air was too much for her to bear. According to Megan, her brother advised her to consider leaving the show, and she did.
