For a long time, there’s been claims that this generation is so sensitive and you have to be careful about what you say or it might be taken out of context.
This especially rings through when you consider that a lot of celebrities have had to apologize, explain or even, in extreme cases, retract their statements because it was not received in good taste by the fans. For example, Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-hero’ music video was criticized for being fatphobic, so much so, she cut the scene exciting all the backlash.
In the same way, Whoopi Goldberg thinks woke culture has not only affected ‘The View,’ but warped it from what it used to be. Here’s what she has to say.
Whoopi Goldberg – Responds To Question On Whether She Still Likes Hosting ‘The View’
Whoopi Goldberg has hosted ‘The View’ for so many years that a lot of things have changed about the world during that time.
One of those things is the way people tend to weaponize people’s thought, beliefs and ideas to spread misinformation and play victims of said constructed narrative.
When Goldberg was asked whether she still likes hosting the show during her latest appearance on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” she admitted there were times when she “liked it better.”
She said: “I liked it better before because there was not … people didn’t didn’t assume that you were starting out to be nasty or horrible or saying stuff,” Goldberg said of co-hosting the talk show for the last 17 years.
“You used to say something and somebody would say, ‘Well, actually, that’s not so.’ And you could make that adjustment,” she told Chris Wallace, adding, “Or you could say, ‘Well, here’s what … this is why I thought about it this way.’ You can’t do that anymore. Nobody wants to hear what you were thinking. They’re only saying that’s what you said. And that must mean that your whole life is that. It’s like wow.”
She noted: “I feel like now you’re always having to hedge what you say because you don’t want to piss people off.”
Goldberg, of course, is no stranger to backlashes. In 2022, she was temporarily suspended from The Talk when she opined that Holocaust was “not about race” during a live episode. So our Talk Show Queen is speaking from experience.
