And as the one-year anniversary of Smith slapping Rock on stage nears, Will has sought to achieve a full comeback. But at first, Smith stayed silent on social media. However, as the backlash eased, Will returned to the public spotlight. And he just surprised his social media followers by seeming to mock his scandal on Instagram.

Using a blooper from The Genie via Disney on Ice, Smith seemingly referred to the challenges after going from a shining superstar to a man fallen from grace. And though Will let the blooper speak for itself, those who observed it could see the parallels. The actor even wrote in his Instagram caption, “This is me in 2022.”

And the blooper video did seem to symbolize Smith’s fall and rise. It showed a Disney On Ice performer portraying the Genie. In a nasty fall, the Genie slides off the ice. But the performer manages to return and finish a song. And the Genie even strikes a perfect pose at the end.

In the months since that slap scandal, Smith too has seen the results of his own fall. For instance, he received a ban from the Academy Awards ceremonies for a decade. And he also avoided the public spotlight. However, now Hollywood seems to have united on forgiving Will.

For instance, Smith and Martin Lawrence will head back to the movie stage to film Bad Boys 4. And rumors have soared that Will received an offer from Disney for another Aladdin film. In addition, Smith will play executive producer and lead actor for an upcoming travel series, Pole to Pole, for Disney Plus, according to Geo.

But don’t look for Smith just sitting in a chair in Hollywood for the National Geographic project. Because as part of the Disney Plus offerings, the actor will travel 26,000 miles from the South Pole to the North Pole. And after its completion, Smith will have achieved three projects with National Geographic. Welcome to Earth and One Strange Rock began the series, which seeks to “tell bold, best-in-class stories that ignite curiosity and inspire people to explore and care about our world,” said National Geographic.
