Woody Harrelson News – COVID Protocols Spark Woody Harrelson Slams
Woody Harrelson has sought publicity for his new film, Champions. But amid hyping his drama-comedy movie, Harrelson took time to speak out against COVID protocols in Hollywood. And the actor claimed that the rules threatened independent movies especially, according to Variety.
Amid his publicity tour for Champions, Woody slammed “all the COVID protocols” involved in film-making. And he summed up his views by bashing the guidelines as “absurd.”
But asked to share precisely what caused him to make that comment, Harrelson claimed that he feels COVID protocols should not continue.
“I don’t think that anybody should have the right to demand that you’re forced to do the testing, forced to wear the mask and forced to get vaccinated three years on. I’m just like, let’s be done with this nonsense,” added Woody. And the actor claimed that the rules treat movie crews unfairly.
Hollywood’s COVID guidelines seem “not fair to the crews. I don’t have to wear the mask,” claimed Harrelson. “Why should they?” And the actor also raised questions about COVID vaccines. “Why should they have to be vaccinated? How’s that not up to the individual? I shouldn’t be talking about this [expletive],” added Woody.
Woody Harrelson News – Feels ‘Angry’ About ‘Forced Vaccination’
And as a self-proclaimed “anarchist,” Harrelson feels “angry for the crew. The anarchist part of me, I don’t feel that we should have forced testing, forced masking and forced vaccination. That’s not a free country,” added Woody. However, Harrelson also focused on the difference between film stars and behind-the-scenes workers.
And he stressed, “Really I’m talking about the crew. Because I can get out of wearing a mask. I can test less. I’m not in the same position they’re in,” added Woody about the crew. “But it’s wrong. It’s three years. Stop. As an anarchist, I don’t do well with mandates,” admitted Harrelson.

Harrelson made those comments just before hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL) late last month. And he sparked a backlash over his monologue. Because Woody focused on COVID in his monologue, he faced controversy for his views.

And Harrelson described the “craziest script” that he reviewed. “So the movie goes like this. The biggest drug cartels in the world get together and buy up all the media and all the politicians and force all the people in the world to stay locked in their homes. And people can only come out if they take the cartel’s drugs and keep taking them over and over,” said Woody in his SNL monologue.
And the actor added, “I threw the script away. Who was going to believe that crazy idea? Being forced to do drugs? I do that voluntarily all day.” Because of the parallel between the actor’s monologue and COVID vaccine guidelines, his statements divided viewers. As for whether Harrelson’s commentary on COVID will impact his newest movie? Champions premieres in theaters on March 10.
