Santa Barbara viewers will remember the soap’s supercouple, Cruz Castillo, played by A Martinez, and Eden Capwell, played by Marcy Walker.
The two had an incredible love story on the soap from 1984 to 1991 and are slated to reunite on June 7 to participate in a livestream event with fans.
Martinez recently hopped on social media to provide more information about the fundraising event aimed at helping collect money for Walker, who’s dealing with a major health issue. More below.
A Martinez’s Social Media Message
In a video post on Instagram, Martinez talks about his time on Santa Barbara with Walker, and what an incredible pleasure it was to work with her.
He discussed the livestream event and how he and Walker will be talking to fans; however, Martinez also addressed the reason why tickets were priced at $100, as some fans were disappointed at the cost.
In the video, he states, “Now, out of respect for my partner’s privacy, I did not speak to the reasons for the fee when I first posted.”
The soap actor adds, “The fact is, Marcy has been ill and is working hard to get well, and in the process has come face to face with the financial challenges that so often plague those of us unlucky enough to need medical care in our country. She is in that need.”
Martinez notes, “We will probably do a GoFundMe over the summer, but the June 7th conversation will support our precious friend in a way that’s both personal and I would imagine would end up being highly memorable for all of us.”
He concluded with, “On behalf of both of us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

More On Martinez’s IG Post
A Martinez’s IG caption read, “As we approach June 7th, when Marcy Walker and I will LiveCast with our friend Melissa Braverman to dive into the legacy of Cruz and Eden, I wanted to clarify our thinking about the tickets.”
It goes on to say, “It’s pretty simple, but easy to misunderstand: we need to raise money to address a real and urgent need.”
The Instagram caption added, “I should have made that clear from the jump, but didn’t, and I offer my apologies for the mistake.”
In addition, the description of the event has been updated to reflect the fact that the livestream is an opportunity for fans to take a walk down memory lane with their favorite Santa Barbara super couple, but it is also a fundraiser to support Walker’s health challenges. It adds that “100%” of the proceeds will go to help Walker’s rising healthcare costs and medical bills.
Both Walker and Martinez scored Daytime Emmys during their time on Santa Barbara. In 1989, Walker won in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress, while Martinez won his in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in 1990.
