All My Children alum John Callahan died from a massive stroke when he was just 66 years old. As if his death and the COVID-19 pandemic were not enough, his family is dealing with a criminal who stole the actor’s identity after his death. The AMC actor and veteran soap icon died in March 2020. It was completely unexpected and it also came right around the same time as the coronavirus pandemic. His ex-wife, Eva LaRue, was still reeling from John’s death when they discovered someone was causing even more agony by stealing from the dead man.

Eva told Fox News that his home was ransacked, his personal and material property was stolen literally days after John died from a massive stroke. The actress explained,

“It has definitely been a roller coaster because not only is my daughter [Kaya Callahan] grieving so hard, but I’m grieving separately in my way, too, because he has been my great friend.”

Right at the time they were mourning John, someone broke into his home and stole his identity. They also took his car and computer. Since then, they have been taking out credit cards and loans in John’s name. They also siphoned money from his bank account

Eva said they have tried to take care of the situation by making tons of phone calls and emails. However, they are on hold for sometimes hours only to be told that there’s nothing that can be done. During the rare occasion when they are able to accomplish a victory, it takes a lot longer than it should.

The actress said there has been some headway as far as identifying and apprehending the criminal. However, it has wreaked havoc on their family. The timing of the coronavirus pandemic and it happening literally days after John’s death only multiplied their pain.

“It’s just sick and messed up. And I mean, the good thing is that they’re circling the wagons around this person. And so he’s going to get caught. But in the meantime, it’s wreaked such havoc for the last four months, like such crazy havoc.”

We hope that this person is caught quickly and punished to the full extent of the law. Our condolences go out to John Callahan’s family.
