Dark Shadows: Reincarnation News: All The Details On The CW’s Classic Horror Soap Opera Reboot

Dark Shadows: Reincarnation
Dark Shadows: Reincarnation may sound familiar to some. That is because it is a reboot of a gothic horror soap opera from 1966 called Dark Shadows. Keep reading to find out everything known about The CW’s reboot.

It is a sequel to the vampire-themed soap opera, Dark Shadows from the 60s. The original television show was created by Dan Curtis and starred Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins, who was a vampire.

The reboot is written by Mark B. Perry. His name may sound familiar because he scribed Revenge and Ghost Whisperer. Both of those shows were well-written and popular. Deadline gave a description of what viewers can expect.

Dark Shadows News – Modern-Day Continuation Of The Collins’ Family

“[The sequel] will be a modern-day continuation of the strange, terrifying, and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential, publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they’ve lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror.”

Perry was a fan of Dark Shadows. The writer explained for years, he “aggressively pursued” the rights to the original TV show. He finally got what he wanted. Even though the story will be modernized, Perry plans on staying true to the original mythology. At the same time, it will be understandable for those who are not familiar with the Collins family.

This sounds like great news for both original fans and new viewers who love the horror TV genre.

Dark Shadows News – The Gothic Soap’s History Is A Long-Running One

Dark Shadows is considered to be the “godfather of horror TV.” Running from 1966 and ending in 1971, it has been rebooted before. Dan Curtis resurrected the horror soap opera in 1991 with NBC’s Dark Shadows: The Revival.

In 2012, Tim Burton directed a feature film loosely based on the story. It starred Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter.

Are you looking forward to Dark Shadows: Reincarnation? No air date has yet been announced. What we do know is that it will air on The CW network. This is the same network famous for Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, so we expect it will be a hit. More information will be reported when it becomes available.

As one of those fans who ran home from school to watch the original DS, I was excited to see the 1991 revival series only to be crushed when it only lasted 12 episodes. The Burton/Depp movie was a disappointment IMO but this new series at the CW sounds very promising. I am very much looking forward to checking it out if it gets picked up.
