“Passions” was last seen on-air back in 2008 but many fans are wondering if there’s any way they’d see their favorite characters from the sudser together again. Many of them got excited when news broke last spring that the show will have a 20th-anniversary documentary. Recently, it’s been revealed that the film is scheduled to air on April 28, 2020.
The announcement was made at this year’s Days of Days event. The documentary will feature several fan-favorite characters from the show. The upcoming documentary is the brainchild of lifetime soap fan Angie Thomas who penned “The Hate U Give” and “On the Come Up.”
Interview With Thomas
In an earlier interview with Thomas, she explained how she got into watching the show. She revealed that she was being homeschooled at that time. During her afternoon break, there were soap operas on TV. She only connected with “Passions” because it catered to younger viewers. She got pulled in by the diversity of the cast, the problems and the romances featured in the show. She eventually got hooked and has been a major fan ever since.
As for the documentary, she revealed that most of the original cast will be featured. “It will be great to hear them talk about the show, and hopefully the unfiltered stuff that they don’t feel afraid to talk about,” she said.

Passions: A Successful TV Soap Opera
“Passions” was well received by fans when it debuted in 1999. It was created by James E. Reilly and produced by NBC Studios. The sudser replaced “Another World,” which was produced by Procter & Gamble, after 35 years of entertaining NBC viewers.
The show first aired on Free Broadcast over-the-air network NBC from 1999 to 2007. Then it was moved to Satellite Pay Television DirecTV-Exclusive The 101 Network from 2007 to 2008.
“Passions” centered on the personal lives, romantic relationships, and paranormal adventures of the residents of Harmony. The community was made up of diverse families including African Americans, Caucasians, and Mexicans and Irish.
The network canceled the soap in January 2007 and was then picked up by DirectTV. Its final episode was aired on NBC in September 2007 but new episodes continued on DirectTV until December 2007 when it decided not to renew its contract. The show’s final episode aired in 2008. “Passions” was, so far, the last daytime television soap opera that was made for American TV.
