5 Reasons Why Dancing With The Stars Needs More Soap Star Contestants

Dancing with the Stars is a megahit around the world, with tons of countries airing their own version of the glitterball show, from America to the UK, from Armenia to China and a whole host of other countries in between airing their own versions of the dance-off.
At the beginning of the century, the show was such a huge hit that it was the world’s most popular television program among all genres two years in a row and reached the Top 10 in 17 countries.
Dancing With The Stars Spoilers – First Winner Of DWTS
The British series Strictly Come Dancing was the original show which spanned off legions of competitors. Daytime drama queen Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam McCall on the ABC sudser General Hospital was the very first winner of DWTS.
Which got us to thinking, there is a boatload of reasons why Dancing with the Stars needs more soap star contestants.
Here are five of them!

Reason number one: what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. In other words, having soap stars appear on DWTS will increase interest in both shows, win-win situation ratings-wise.
Reason number two: DWTS is all about drama and soap stars can bring that in spades—they call soaps daytime dramas for nothing!
Reason number three: in a word, coronavirus. I know, that’s a bad word! But, soap fans have gone dry waiting for their favorite shows and stars to come back after the coronavirus pandemic. If we can’t see our faves in the daytime, at least let us see them in primetime!
Reason number four: it helps give soap stars and their shows increased exposure. Bringing a soap star onboard DWTS can only help a star’s career and show, and that’s a good thing.

Reason number five: soap stars have proven they can bring the goods. In addition to Monaco, several soap stars have entertained fans of DWTS including popular hunk Cameron Mathison from All My Children, Lisa Rinna from Days of our Lives, and John O’Hurley from All My Children, Santa Barbara, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, As the World Turns and The Edge of Night and Tia Carrere from General Hospital.
Fun fact: Monaco not only won the first season of DWTS, but she also returned for Season 15: All-Stars and came in third place!
