Dancing With The Stars: Peta Murgatroyd Reveals Her Baby’s Name!

Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) news and updates reveal Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd welcoming their baby to the world. And the new mother just shared the name they chose for their tiny bundle of joy. Fans gushed over the baby announcement as well.

Dancing With The Stars – Maks Chmerkovskiy And Peta Murgatroyd Welcome Baby Boy

Peta Murgatroyd and Dancing With The Stars pro Maks Chmerkovskiy recently welcomed their baby boy to the world. And now Peta, 36, and Maks, 43, feel ready to reveal the baby’s name. In addition to sharing that they named their son Rio John Chmerkovskiy, the couple unveiled the first pics via People.

Baby Rio weighed  8 lbs., 6 oz., revealed Peta. And she explained why they chose the name. “We loved Rio, which we came upon at the last minute. It’s a perfect complement to our long surname!” Murgatroyd pointed out. “We also wanted something easy to say with Shai,” referring to their 6-year-old son.

However, Maks chose his newborn’s middle name John to honor his late father Derek John who died in December 2022. And he proudly celebrated Father’s Day by announcing his son’s birth. “Happy Father’s Day to me!” wrote the Dancing With The Stars pro on Instagram. But he couldn’t resist a cheeky comment. “#MadeInPeta,” added Maks.

DWTS – Fans Gush Over Baby Boy

And in response to Chmerkovskiy’s post about his baby with Murgatroyd, Dancing With The Stars fans cheered. But some famous pals reacted as well. For instance, Emma Slater responded, “OMG YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!! On Father’s Day!!!!” And Amanda Kloots gushed, “Wow what a day! What a gift!”

In addition, Chmerkovskiy shared about the couple’s 6-year-old son Shai. Because the couple struggled with infertility issues previously, Shai knew that it would take extra time to welcome a baby brother or sister into the world. And the DWTS pro explained, “He knew the story kept being that mommy has an egg. And then the egg broke.” As a result, telling their son about the baby felt very moving. 

And Maks shared, “It’s a very big moment for him and for us, seeing that baby come. Watching my 6-year-old taking in that moment is also very special.” And Murgatroyd praised her son Shai’s excitement during her pregnancy. But she also admitted that he had become somewhat “obsessed” with waiting for a sibling’s arrival. “Counting down the days. He’s going to be the best big brother, I know it,” added the proud mom.
