Days Of Our Lives Announces Javi Hernandez RecastDays of Our Lives spoilers note that Al Calderon’s ‘days’ in Salem are coming to an end; however, the silver lining in all this is that fans can expect to see a new face emerge as the Javi Hernandez recast. More details below!

Calderon announced he’d be exiting Days of Our Lives in August 2025, after snagging a prime-time role on NBC’s Brilliant Minds.

While Javi did exit storylines in January 2026, this wouldn’t be the last time fans saw Calderon as he (and Javi) returned to the canvas in April 2026.

According to Deadline, actor Jacob Martinez is slated to step in Javi’s shoes. There’s even an official first airdate, which will be Tuesday, June 30. Days of Our Lives is the first soapy role for Martinez; however, he does have an acting resume that lists a short film ‘Memory Swim” and stage productions that include Dog Sees God and In Pieces.

Martinez also happens to be an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in real-life … the very same job that Javi himself has! 

Javi Hernandez’s World

Martinez is stepping into a very dramatic time for Javi. While Javi and Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) had a beautiful wedding in January, their happily ever after abruptly ended when Leo’s ex, Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte) arrived back into town.

Leo and Javi did exchange vows, but as the wedding certificate was not registered, they “technically” are husband and husband.

Javi left town to not only care for his ailing father, but to give Leo some time and space to sort out his feelings for Dimitri.

Unfortunately, by the time Leo realized that Javi was his one and only, Hernandez started seeing someone new. Now Leo wants to be friends, but Javi doesn’t.

Will these two end up reuniting, or will someone new come along for Leo? Only time will tell.
