He is in disbelief and overwhelmed with guilt. He can’t believe that he was wrong all this time and that he was suckered into believing Gwen’s lies. He betrayed his marriage and there’s no fixing that. It might be forgiven if he’s lucky, but he can’t take back the night he spent with Gwen.

That’s when Gwen speaks up and admits to lying about Jake and Abigail kissing. Chad is horrified and Abigail fires the nanny. However, Gwen wouldn’t confess to something like that unless she had another plan, which she does. Now that she slept with Chad and he hasn’t told his wife, Gwen has leverage.

He doesn’t want to lose his family, but he should know that you can never give in when it comes to a blackmailer.

Actor Billy Flynn talked to Soap Opera Digest about the storyline. He admitted that Chad is easily manipulated by Gwen and he should have been smarter. He’s also disgusted, but it’s more toward himself than anyone else.

“I think there’s a level of disgust that he’s going to have but the way that I tried to do it was more about disgust for himself. It’s not really Gwen’s fault that he’s so easily manipulated by her, but he’s thinking, ‘I want to get rid of her. I hate her and I want to kill her,’ but more because of what she did to Abigail.”

In the end, Chad agrees to Gwen’s demand. He tells himself that it’s to protect Abigail, but it’s really to protect himself. But in Salem, secrets never stay buried forever. Eventually, Abigail will find out that Chad and Gwen slept together. When that happens, will “Chabby” still have a marriage or will it end up ripping them apart?
