Days Of Our Lives Fans React To Lisa Rinna Starring In DOOL Spinoff ‘Beyond Salem’

Days of Our Lives fans recently expressed dismay over news that DOOL would take a break until after the Olympics.

But those wails of “NOOOO!” quickly turned into cheers of “YEEESSS!” when the network announced (drumroll, please) a Days Of Our Lives spin-off, “Beyond Salem!”

Since 1992, Lisa Rinna has portrayed Billie on Days Of Our Lives.

But 2018 marked Rinna’s supposedly final appearance on DOOL. In place of a fictional soap opera, Lisa has starred in what often seems like a real life soap opera, the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills (RHOBH).

Some assumed that Rinna’s departure from Days Of Our Lives was permanent. Peacock TV, however, just proved that assumption wrong. 

The streaming service just unveiled what for now will consist of five episodes of a DOOL spin-off. 

“Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem” will star Rinna as Billie Reed. Look for other familiar faces to join Lisa, including Deidre Hall (Marlena), Drake Hogestyn (John) and James Reynolds (Abe), per TV Line.

Also on board the spinoff are Jackée Harry (Paulina), Victoria Konefal (Ciara) Robert Scott Wilson (Ben), Billy Flynn (Chad), Lamon Archey (Eli), and Sal Stowers (Lani).

DOOL Fans React To ‘Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem’ Spoilers!

Days Of Our Lives fans used their knowledge of the show to do a deep dive into Peacock TV’s teaser. Spoilers for “Beyond Salem” reveal that John and Marlena travel to Zurich as Ben and Ciara enjoy romance in New Orlands. As Chad visits old pals in Phoenix, a quartet including Abe, Paulina, Lani and Eli relax in Miami. 

But they unite in a stolen-jewel mystery. Could those jewels fall into the wrong hands, with horrible consequences for Salem? Enter ISA agent Billie Reed to seek the treasure!

The spoilers earned positive responses from Days Of Our Lives fans on Reddit.

“Sounds interesting (minus shmoopy Ben and Ciara trying their best to mimic Bo and Hope as usual),” commented one DOOL viewer. “It sounds like Billie will be the main character traveling around looking for stolen jewels, running into Salemites on vacation. Very cute.”

Others focused on predicting which stars would join Lisa Rinna.

“I want to know what “classic” characters we will see. I have a feeling that given the ISA role in this storyline we will see Charles Shaughnessy as Shane Donovan,” commented another fan.

And Rinna earned some cheers for her return, with several noting that they had missed the actress.

Days Of Our Lives News – Real Housewives Fans Serve Snark For Lisa Rinna On DOOL Spinoff

In contrast to the positive response from Days Of Our Lives fans, Real Housewives viewers seemed unimpressed by Lisa Rinna hopping from RHOBH to DOOL.

Many felt that Lisa had received the gig as somewhat of a freebie from the streaming service. But she did get one defender.

“It’s actually really sad to watch people dismiss this as Rinna getting an easy job from Peacock,” defended one fan, pointing out, “Days was iconic back in the day.”

However, others mocked Lisa for keeping it relatively unreal on RHOBH, pointing out how she has admitted to taking whatever work comes her way. 

“Rinna is a 50-something working actress who appreciates that ‘a gig’s a gig’,” pointed out one Real Housewives viewer. “I now return to my regularly scheduled scorn at her lack of really actually “talking about it” on RHOBH.”

Ouch!
