Latest soap opera spoilers, news and exclusive updates for The Young and The Restless, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Days of Our Lives Leaving NBC, Moves to Peacock

Days of Our Lives Leaving NBC, Moves to PeacockDays of our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveals that NBC has deserted its broadcast television fanbase with a stunning move, relocating its only remaining daytime drama to its streaming service, Peacock. Starting September 12 the soap will be shown exclusively on the network’s streamer after a 57-year run on broadcast television.

According to Vulture, NBC pioneered the soap opera genre 73 years ago when it debuted These Are My Children in 1949.

The news has broken social media with outraged fans venting spleen that DOOL is the latest big name program to become paid subscriber fare only–Thursday Night Football and ABC’s Dancing With the Stars will switch to streaming this fall.

Days of our Lives spoilers: DOOL Fans Are Outraged

Still, according to industry analysts, the move to Peacock is not without precedent. The show, produced by Corday Prods. in association with Sony Pictures Television, has been threatened with cancellation several times over the past 15 years and the show has launched a DOOL spin-off on Peacock. So, despite the stark news, soap fans will not be shocked about the switch.

DOOL is routinely the lowest ratings grab among the four remaining network daytime dramas. As such NBC honchos have made noises about the cost to produce the show and fans have come to expect the news of a renewal of the show with bated breath.

DOOL spoilers: DOOL Will Soon Be On Peacock

Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said of the decision, “This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers.”

He added, “With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fan base on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”

Days of our Lives spoilers: What Will Replace the NBC Sudser?

The next question fans will have is, what will NBC schedule in place of DOOL? Soap fans who wish to tune in to the same time slot will find that a new one-hour news program, NBC News Daily, will air with hosts Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen, and Morgan Radford.

NBC’s decision to ditch DOOL means there will be only three daytime soaps on American broadcast TV come this fall: ABC’s General Hospital and CBS’s The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

The genre dominated the airwaves from the mid-1960s until the early 1990s, when the broadcast of the O.J. Simpson murder trial preempted soaps.

The genre never regained its footing, but what the daytime audience lacks in numbers it more than makes up for in loyalty. Cleary NBCU/Peacock execs hope that the fanbase follows the sudser to Peacock. Now tell us, DOOL fans, what are your thoughts on the switch and do you plan to pay to watch your favorite soap on Peacock?

Be sure to catch up on everything happening with DOOL right now. Come back here often for Days of our Lives spoilers, news, and updates.

If Days is moving to pay service my 30 years of watching will be over

    1. Marsha says

Same here. Not paying for anything I don’t have to. I’ll miss it, but I have more important things I need to spend my money on, sorry network TV.

    2. Brenda says

I’ve had peacock for about a year now. It is total free where I live. Plus DOOL’s has been on peacock every sense I’ve had that channel.

    3. evelyn doyon says

really this sucks its been on NBC for so long why do this to the fans i will not pay to watch it sorry this is all about money you guys suck

      1. cathleen landers says

        yeah

    4. DLC says

I think ratings have dropped because of satin story. Then all this bringing back the dead. I loved this show for so many years. Lately it just doesn’t do it for a lot of us

      1. Sharon Johnson says

I totally agree about current storylines – what with the satin nonsense and dead people returning. They did the satin nonsense years ago. I didn’t like it then, I like it even less now. Dead people coming back is downright asinine! Not to mention stupid! I’ve watched since DAY ONE! It was based on family, values, relationships, etc back then. I barely recognize it now. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing some of the stars in person. I will not pay for it.

    5. Lucille Edgerly says

Me too because I’m not paying anything to Paramount to watch a show so if they take days off they just take it off we already pay a lot for cable and then I have to add Paramount on there I don’t think so

  2. Gini Smith says

There are already too many news shows, and not very people even trusts the news anyway, even my local news airs at 6, 12, 4, 5, 6, & 10!!! There’s not that much news in a day! Very disappointed in this choice!!!

    1. Lois Ratzow says

Bull shit on this crap! The sappy writers made this happen! We have been yelling about ReRonald who can’t write worth a crap! And yet he got an award for best writing on a soap! Ha! He’s a idiot! Why more damn news ya have enough junk all day and night! You people are gouging the hell outta us! Hope peecrock fails

      1. Sandi Beach says

The writers actually got two awards. They also won, for the 2nd year in a row, The Writers Guild Award. Guess they can’t be that bad after all!

        1. Sharon Jonson says

          Or the competition is worse!

    2. Mary Smith says

Very dissapointed in the decision too move dool . What is the channel peacock? As for another news program We don’t need another news program.

  3. Denise says

Totally sucks! Now we’ll have to pay to watch Days, I’m livid! Been watching since the beginning and now they’re taking this away from us!
    Everyone should boycott Days! Unbelievable!
Is there a deal where we won’t have to pay?

    1. Kay R Blackwell says

I live on SS and cannot afford to pay to watch shows that are moving from networks. Price of groceries, gas, doctor bills, meds, etc.
Have watched Days from the beginning.
This is disappointing and angers me. Hope they lose a lot of viewers.

      1. Peggy Mason says

I agree Kay. I can’t pay to watch DOOL. I will miss it, since I’ve watched from the beginning except for the few years I worked & didn’t have a VCR to record it.
        But I Will Survive!

      2. Susan Ifland says

My Days are over. Been watching since it began. Now I am living on a fixed income and with inflation ( Thanks Democrats) I cannot afford to spend money on a T.V. show! I am sure they will lose a lot of watchers! The world is a stinking mess!

      3. Inez says

        Agree!

  4. Kathy Lechtenberg says

I have watched Days since 1974. I don’t pay for TV. I use the good old fashion tv antenna. Unfortunately, I would rather eat and get my medicine than paying for TV. Days has been the only soap that I watch.

  5. Linda Moore says

I think it absolutely STINKS. There’s DOOL fans that have watched this show since day one, Nov. 8, 1965, like me, that will no longer be able to see it. What is wrong with big companies now a days? No respect for loyalty anymore. I have Peacock……but the verdict isn’t in yet as to whether I’ll be watching or not.

  6. Patricia Watts says

Will Days come on at the same time on Peacock? If not, I may pass on it. Peacock is included with my current programming.

    1. Sandi Beach says

I read it will be on the same time.

  7. JCary says

Will DOOL be on regular Peacock or premium?

    1. Kelley843 says

      I believe regular Peacock.

    2. sue bkaquiere says

It will not be free. You have to pay , for now, $4.99 per month. Bet it goes up later…I’m out. Cant afford it…

    3. Emma says

I have regular Peacock, It is free. I have watched DOOL on there before I got a DVR if I missed an episode. But the one that DOOL is moving to charges. I only got to see the first Beyond Salem. It was free. Did not see next one was on the Premium Peacock!. $.99,but will go up when DOOL gets on there.

  8. jeri says

No I will not pay to watch I will miss the show everyday this is TERRIBLE I cannot even watch Peacock free so this is terrible of them to do this you will lose so many people who watch the show ev ery day I cannot afford to pay I am a senior citizen on a limited income so this will be a hardship for me.

  9. Loree says

What if your provider doesn’t carry Peacock

    1. Sandi Beach says

You can get it on Roku or Fire Tv. (Firestick also). We switched from Cable as the prices went up Sky High! We pay for WiFi & Stream Programs. Saving So Much money! And for those who want, you can watch all the back Episodes………way back shows!

      1. Peggy Mason says

What I found on ROKU was about 1 month from 2014. Unless they’ve changed it this week, I don’t see any way to watch it free.

  10. Paul Bibaud says

I’ve followed DOOL since 1969 !!! Taking it off of NBC is devastating to me. I work my schedule around Dool my whole life, recording it since the mid 80’s to accomodate working for a living. I cannot tell you how upset this news is to me. I have no idea how to access Peacock, and since I’m retired on a small fixed income due to working almost 30 years in human services for the disabled at low wages to help others made for a low social security retirement check. Now I have to find out how to continue connection to Salemites by paying for it after 53 loyal years ?

  11. Susan says

Wow I shock . I guess I better catch up than . But why put more news on TV put something else on old movies or something there enough news on TV now oh so sad

  12. Elizabeth says

I started watching Days in the early 70s and stopped just a few months ago. Got tired of the stupid story lines and woke bs.

    1. Eileen says

I agree they lost a other viewer I have watched days since 1972 i it used to be good it is getting dumb I will not ease my time and money

  13. Debra L. Haynes Breen or Michael Breen says

This is so disappointing. I have to work on my pc during the shows often, so I will no longer be able to follow it. I’m disappointed about Thursday night football, too. My husband and I will no longer be able to watch together. Not everyone can afford phones, you know. We have one pc in my office and that’s it. Extremely saddened.

  14. Christmas says

I don’t have net work TV and won’t ever go back. You already pay for cable so I don’t see the big deal.

  15. Janet Roberts says

I have not been happy with Days storylines lately so why the hell would i want to pay to see them

    1. Marsha says

You are so right!! Story lines got ridiculous!!!

  16. Kathleen Erb says

I have been disgusted with DOOL and it’s writers for several months now so this gives me the perfect opportunity to leave the soap for good.

  17. JeaneSpangler says

I’ve been a fan of DOOL for many years but if it goes to another station I have to pay for I’m out!!!!

  18. Renee says

That sucks. Days just lost alot of fans with this move to streaming service. It just shows you Days and the writers doesn’t care about the fans and what they think..

  19. Patty Brown says

NBC. I will not be watching your channel no more it will be total blocked from my channel this was the only thing I watched and I will not pay for peacock

  20. Joan says

Well that stinks!! Something else I can’t continue watching! I will not pay to watch it & yes people it goes to premium in September.

  21. Kate says

I will not pay just to watch one show on Peacock. I guess this is goodbye to “Days” for me.

  22. Kay Cowell says

When is this happening? And to respond to Christmas that thinks she is so high and mighty. We pay for cable and should not have to pay for other streaming services to watch TV. I for one will not be paying to watch. The show isn’t offering any content that is worth me paying more than what my cable service is already charging me.

  23. Koko48 says

Not a big surprise. The story lines have sucked for sometime now. I only watch now because I’ve been a loyal fan for decades, it’s a daily habit. Good luck! NOT paying for streaming. As for another news show…NO. Pathetic!

  24. Marilouise says

Wow, I have been watching DOOL for 46 years now, and when I have Dr. appts., or other things I must tend to, I go to Peacock to watch that days show. My question is, will DOOL only be on the paid Peacock or will it still be on the one where there are ads to watch? How much is a monthly subscription? I already pay for Paramount+, so a little more to get my fix on DOOL would be alright I guess. I have watched all three “Beyond Salem” shows, so streaming is fine with me, just keep it on the air somewhere.

  25. Pixie Lea says

I have watched DOOL for years. I won’t pay Peacock to watch: mostly out of principle. I’m sad over the loss, but I won’t be coerced into adding another streaming service. Screw it!!!

  26. Jennie says

I am in Canada and watch DOOL on channel 12 global TV. Where will be able watch it we don’t have Peacock as yet

  27. Mary Jane Peterson says

WillI I have to watch on my computer????Hpw do I sign up for Peacock??

  28. Jennie says

I am in Canada and watch DOOL on channel 12 global TV. Where will I be able to watch it we don’t have Peacock as yet

  29. Angela Justus says

don’t know what they think not everybody has peacock and all these streaming services. oh well, won’t be watching see ya days.

  30. Nancy says

    This’ll

  31. Ronnie says

So in order to watch DOOL we have to pay for it now. Seniors have watched this show
    for years.

    1. cathy says

my mother is 83 she has watched days of our lives for 50 odd years she will not be able to pay for Peacock that’s the only thing she watches on television this is sad

  32. Gail Madera says

This really stinks lots of people cant get peacock unless they pay for it and cable TV already cost a bundle we dont need another stupid news or talk show

  33. Elizabeth says

Elizabeth, I used to watch it everyday, since Bo and Hope left and a few others just not the same. No I pay a lot for cable and extra movie channels. I will not pay to see Days. More time freed up.

  34. Sue says

This is one of the cruelest things you could do to the fans… I live in an assisted living facility and do not have access to Peacock!!!!! Nor even if I did I do not have the money to pay for it!!! I have watched Days of Our Lives for over 40 years and now you are taking it away…this is so mean !!!!!!

  35. DeDe P. says

For the older fans this is a real loss, because many of them can’t afford the $4.95 for the streaming station. It’s pure greed. If they live off their S.S. they are not going to use they’re money which they need for food or drugs for TV. Many of them don’t even have cable they just have basic TV. Shame on NBC.

  36. McAlister Sylvia says

I have been watching since the beginning but I will not be able to pay for high bill. So I guess it will be goodbye for me. Very sad you are leaving loyal fans behind.

  37. Pamela says

As a senior on a low fixed income I will be losing one of my few enjoyments .

  38. Emma says

I will miss DOOL, I have watched it since the first day, but already pay too much for cable so will not pay more to see this. I did not get to watch the Beyond Salem that charged extra! What a shame!

  39. MARIE CLAIRE BUTTLE says

I will miss watching DOOL and, I don’t think it’s fair that I should have to pay extra just to watch it !

  40. MARIE CLAIRE BUTTLE says

    I don’t think it’s fair.

  41. Natalie says

Like others have said I already pay alot for cable (250 ) so I’m not about to pay for a streaming service besides who can afford it

  42. Mandy says

I don’t have paid tv so this really sucks.ive watched DOOL since 1977 and was still in school. . NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS CHANGE AT ALL

  43. Sandi Beach says

I have regular “Free” Peacock, but is this to be on the free one or Peacock PLus?

  44. Sandee says

I had Dish but the costs of Dish and cable are outrageous and I don’t really channel hop anyway. The price to stream Peacock is so much less and I see most of the shows I’m really interested in on Peacock anyway. So I’ve already been watching DOOL on Peacock now and the change is fine with me.

  45. Virginia Johnson says

I think that NBC is making the biggest mistake of their lives. People don’t have the extra money to pay for an extra channels. It looks like NBC want to cancel DOOL to save money and not paying the actors & actress all that money. I think that NBC should reconsider removing DOOL from NBC station. Many people are not happy about this move.

    1. Carolyn says

I am livid ! I will never watch anything on my phone. Cable is costly. I will never be able to watch it when it goes to Peacock.

  46. Tonya says

Bad choice! I will NOT pay any more to watch TV. Being in a Recession is NOT a time for asking people to pay more for TV Entertainment. Big big mistake NBC!! And why?? Another boring news talk show??? People want to watch TV to get away from the real world. It’s called Entertainment for a reason. Geesh!!!

  47. Patt Welsh says

The worse news I heard today. I am an 80 year old handicapped widow and watched Day’s since the 60’s. There are a lot of us and I mean a lot who can’t afford to buy into Peacock. You are making a lot of viewers angry. What I see is it a money thing, always making more people richer. This news break’s my heart.

  48. sammy says

Where do you think we have extra money for streaming? We’re at the very end of at&t line for internet. If I stream anything I just keep getting the loading symbol. You are getting a WTF for sure. I have a hard enough time getting out locals as it is. Country living isn’t fun any more.

  49. Edward says

My mother and grandmother watched days from the beginning so of course I grew up watching it and watch it now. My mother was so dedicated that both of my sisters are named after days characters Kayla and Hope. I can tell you my ALL time favorite story line was Vivian (the real Vivian burring Carly alive and torturing her. Yes I’m DEVOTED including all the having to hunt around at 2 and 3 am for the episodes that were moved for what the hell ever some thought was earth shattering, but this is too much! My grandmother would be pissed and down at the tv station they should be thankful she is no longer with us!

  50. Vicki McGaughey says

I have watched days since it started. I will not pay to watch it. I don’t have any extras on my TV

  51. Karen Powell says

Won’t pay to watch Days! It is boring, same ole thing with different people. Need new writers. Too many news shows on NBC. Today Show 4 hours & so boring! I stopped watching as not news after first hour. To me NBC gone down tubs. I have rabbit ears as I refuse to pay to watch television. Shame on the exes. They don’t care about all the people watched all these years & ones on fixed income won’t be able to watch their show.

  52. Barb says

I will not be watching anymore……
Isn’t there anything we can do to stop this?

  53. robbie h says

Screw that! I’ll use that hour for reading or napping!

  54. Jane says

Well that’s the death knell for Days. I get Peacock as part of my cable package but I’m not sure I’ll continue to watch it in September. I’ve been dissatisfied with some of the storylines and actor changes lately so this could be the time to make a clean break from a show I’ve watched on and off since 1971. The off times were due to time away in college and working years before VCRs. I definitely won’t be watching the news program replacing it.

  55. Hilda says

I call it my fifty year habit, although at times I ask my self WHY! Not always crazy about story line. I do not have a recorder hooked to my TV so I frequently watch DOOL on Peacock. They have years worth of DOOL old shows as well.I have a ROKU in three places in my House. One may have been $100 and the the other were add ons for about 20.00 I think.I love my ROKU and watch lots of free shows. When there is an interruption during Days the show will not be interrupted. No Newsconferences.

  56. Linda says

I was there for the opening of that show in 1965. I have enjoyed it every episode, but I can’t subscribe since I am on a family plan, and nobody watches the except me. Otherwise I would have already done so. Very sorry for all of us fans, especially those of us who have been faithful followers.

  57. Nancy Fisher says

I have watched Days ever since the first day!! I will no longer watch it when it leaves… I pay enuff for my TV shows without adding one more…. it sucks!!!!

  58. Deb says

This is a horrible decision! I guess the loyal fans know where we stand. I have watched since the show began. Channel 2 has pre-empted and distorted the storylines so much that loyalty was the only reason for watching. I won’t be paying to watch. Sad and disgusted, at the same time. The almighty dollar and greed win again!

  59. R says

I’ve watched days since the beginning, however the story lines have become so twisted and unbelievable that I will not be paying to watch such nonsense. That said, NBC is inundated with news and another hour of it is totally insane. Sad to read comment above. I can afford the 5.99 per month but just refuse to pay it!

  60. Tam says

I don’t have Peacock. I will not be paying to watch DOOL. We DON’T need another news program. There are too many on now. Bye bye DOOL.

    1. Patricia says

I totally agree I’ve been watching it for 35 years and I won’t be getting Peacock to watch it it’s sad but bye bye DOOL .

  61. terri morgan says

not everyone can get the peacock channels.you guys are really stupid,i will never watch nbc again. Money is tight these days ..you can stick it……..

  62. Candy says

Will we have to watch a day late? That’s how it works now. I won’t be able to record it anymore. This really sucks, I’ve been watching it since the beginning. They just can’t leave things alone, always changing everything. This world sucks since the stupid covid scare. This has just ruined my day, I hope your happy NBC because I might not watch you anymore!

  63. Barb says

This doesn’t surprise me. I hope they tell us who the killer is before they switch. I feel sad been watching this for over 20 years. The writers suck on this show now. They made our show awful.

  64. Karen says

So sad. I have been watching for 57 years and now you ate going to replace it with ANOTHER CORUPT FAKE NEWS SHOW. NBC is greedy and pathetic. I’M DONE WIRH NBC!!! Thanks for nothing.

  65. Sandy says

I have been watching DOOL since 1972. I agree it is all about greed. Not everyone can afford to pay for Peacock, myself included. I wonder how the DOOL cast feels about this change. Cable has got so expensive over the years, and people went to air antenna, myself included. So the greedy people will always figure out a way to get us to pay for TV services. Cable companies not happy so many people left cable for air.

  66. Doris Mcdonal says

Will not pay to watch this, been watching since it first came on, so sad but life goes on.

  67. Mary says

I think it’s a terrible plan. Long time viewers, mostly seniors, do not have Peacock and won’t and can’t afford to add Peacock to the already high cable bill. So this just ends for us and leaves us hanging. BAD DECISION.

  68. Peggy Hessler Morris says

If DOOL goes to Peacock I won’t be able to watch. Living on SS my money needs are food, medicine, and transportation. Can’t afford to pay for Peacock. Cable where I live is expensive as it is and can’t afford to add anything else.

  69. Germaine Leichtenberg says

I started watching from episode one! I said then that I would not get hooked on a stupid soak. Instead Days has been a part of my life for over 50 years. I’m sorry to see things end this way. Also sorry for the actors that have been on for so many years to see the show diminish like this. It’s a mean move!

    1. Germaine Leichtenberg says

      SOAP ( not soak)

      1. Hootie says

It is really a “soak”. We, the viewers, are the ones who are getting a real soaking by being expected to pay for satellite/cable and THEN being expected to pay again for Peacock. I would watch DOOL on Peacock … only if it was presented for Free.

  70. Judy says

I guess this fan is going to no longer be a fan. Not paying for it. It is bad enough that cable is so expensive and to now have to pay peacock to see it. Forget it. My budget doesn’t expand enough for that. GREED is killing this country. You all should be ashamed.

  71. Sonja says

I agree with all of the above comments. I have been watching since the 60s, consistantly since the early 70’s. This is a betrayal! Why?
So some greedy, greasy handed executives can make MORE money? WTF who would think we need more news? For goodness sake we already have so much news on NBC. Shame on you all!

  72. Chris Says says

All of these channels and shows are going to lose their viewers. They all want to stream to make money. But they don’t seem to understand that a lot of people can’t afford it! When they lose their viewers then they will beg them to come back!

  73. Cheryl Hemphill says

The writing is on the wall, “Actors!”; why do you think cast members are going on cruises around the world, out of state, shorter scenes, etc? Should I subscribe or wait until it diminishes?

  74. Hootie says

I cannot and will not pay to watch a series that is barely entertaining enough to be presented for FREE.

  75. Sheila Coolidge says

I’m on a fixed income and it takes everything I make goes to paying my bills, doctors, meds just to live. I can’t pay to watch days. It is not fair all these yrs I have watched and now we will have to pay to see it! No way I can so good bye to my favorite show!

  76. Sandi Beach says

I can’t blame Days. Cable TV is a thing of the past, it’s all streaming now. Big reason is Cable Prices got out of control & people dumped them!

  77. Emma says

I put on here somewhere that it would cost 99 cents a month, I meant 4.99. I could not find it to correct/

  78. Diane says

I have watched days of our lives for 50 years. I refuse to pay to watch. Wrong move NBC. Sorry to say goodbye but I will not pay. I am very sad on their decision to move.

  79. Kandyce Gould says

I wouldn’t mind the show moving to Peacock if it were free, I pay enough for TV, I too am on a fixed income, I bet Days will lose a lot of viewers!

  80. Lorry says

Even with Roku you still have to pay to watch days of our lives on Peacock as long as it’s me in on NBC I don’t understand why it’s being took off

  81. Micki says

Sorry to say that this true fan from day one of Days airing will not be continuing to paid Peacock. The Phoenix will not be returning to my household. Very sad.

  82. G Goularte says

If you want more of my money, improve the content. It has become a joke.
