Days of our Lives spoilers reveal that there is sad news to report for actress Vanessa Williams who plays Dr. Valerie Grant as she has lost a beloved family member. Writing on her Instagram the bereaved actress shared the sad news that her nephew Ivan Snipes has passed away.

Of her nephew she wrote, “Rest in Paradise my beautiful nephew #IvanSnipes #gonetoosoon May God comfort my sister Diane his loving mother, Van his father, his sisters Divonn and Vaniece and big brother Stealy all who loved him! Ivan lives on in all who love him!”

The actress’ fan’s sent an outpouring of support and prayers and one wrote, “Sending you love light and peace during your family’s celebration of Ivan’s life.”

Valerie Grant was a character first played Tina Andrews in 1975. She was paired with David Banning and they feel in love. After becoming engaged in 1976 they had a tumultuous time due to his infidelity, and ex-girlfriend and his mother’s unacceptance of their relationship.

Valerie’s romance with David is said to be the first interracial love story in the world of daytime drama.

Valerie left the canvas in 1978 when she left to attend medical school at Howard University in 1978. in 1981 Valerie returned as a medical intern at the Salem hospital. She and Abe Carver (James Reynolds) became involved but she still had feelings for David so it did not work out and the character once again left in 1982.

In 2016 Vanessa Williams reprised the role as the cardiologist and once again she became involved with Abe Carver. Then, in a shocking reveal that happened the following year, it is learned that David dies suddenly followed by Valerie’s stunning admission that she had secretly given birth to his son whom she named Eli Grant (Lamon Archey).

Valerie was in town last week for Eli (Lamon Archey)’s nuptials to Lani Price (Sal Stowers). Let’s hope that the writer find a permanent place on the canvas for this lovely and talented star!
