The soap opera world, especially those who are avid fans of “Days of Our Lives” were saddened by the news that Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith are leaving the show. The two continue to shock everyone after they revealed that they found out about their exit from reading their final scripts.
It seems like the higher-ups on “Days of Our Lives” weren’t the ones who broke the news to the actors, who played Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis, that they’re being let go. The actors found out about their exit after reading the six scripts that were given to the actors after they were called back in as the show restarted their productions.
Smith said, “How the first three of the six scripts looked, it wasn’t promising. And we were just kind of like, ‘Ummmm…’ And then we read all the way up to five episodes, and I was like, ‘Well, things can always change, things can always change.'”
Shocked, Saddened, and Hurt
Unfortunately, it didn’t. They were both shocked when they got to read their final scripts.
“We were talking, like, ‘I wonder what this sixth episode is going to bring,’ and as we’re talking about it, the script gets delivered to [Smith’s] room and we read it,” Massey recalled.
“I truly was shocked. I kept thinking, ‘No, surely something will change’… I was stunned. I didn’t even know what to say. It just seems like our story was so — our story was unfinished,” he added.
“It just happened so abruptly. And to find out through reading the scripts was a little weird… The handling of it kind of hurt my feelings a little bit,” the actor continued.

The Show Bosses Haven’t Talked To Them Yet
The actors also revealed that the showrunners have yet to talk to them about their exit. Because of that, the two felt awkward as they filmed their final scenes. Although they understand that the show can do whatever needs to be done and steer the show to whatever story they want to have. However, they also pointed out that they’ve been with the sudser for years and it would have been nice if they were informed beforehand.
“Because these are people that we know and worked with and have a relationship with and really have a lot of love for. So, it just feels kind of shitty, to be dropped like that,” Massey explained.

Are you shocked that they were let go?
I wouldn’t say “shocked” as much as disappointed as the way they found out by reading their script…. Just like how Judi Evans found out she was fired. These big wigs don’t have the balls to inform the actors personally after the actors dedicated many years in their roles. Shame on the idiot coward high pencil pushing corporate a$$holes.
Sorry to Chandler Massey And Freddie Smith along with Judi Evans prior learning that she was fired…. this is a hell of a way to find out !?!?!
