Soaps tend to love back-from-the-dead storylines. Even though it sounds like Sloan’s mother really died, soaps rewrite this kind of thing all the time. Is it possible that Sloan might have faked her death? If she wanted Chanel to pay for the affair, it wouldn’t have taken this long for the scandal to come out.

A more likely possibility is that Sloan’s mother initially wanted to save her marriage by getting rid of Chanel. However, as the two women argued, maybe the wife had a change of heart.
