But as viewers know, this is one crime that EJ had nothing to do with. Lucas Horton (Bryan Datillo) framed EJ with a bit of help from Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). Besides Chad, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) also is aware of what Lucas did. Since she doesn’t want to see her son go to prison, she has agreed to keep Lucas’ guilt a secret even though it means betraying EJ.

But Lucas also confessed the truth to his half-brother Phillip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson). Phillip had just committed a whopper of a crime himself. He pretended to go missing and even set it up to look like Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) killed him. He went to a lot of extremes to make that happen, but Kate, once she discovered that Phillip was alive, had him spirited out of town to seek treatment.

Phillip has a lot to atone for. He could have killed Brady when he injected alcohol directly into Brady’s bloodstream. Phillip was unhinged because of his jealous obsession with Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin). But once Phillip get the help he so desperately needs, he might feel the need to make up for past wrongs. He’ll certainly want to make sure Brady is in no way charged with having anything to do with Phillip’s disappearance. But in his need to make things right, could he also reveal his own brother’s criminal actions!

Considering that Phillip had just confessed his actions to Lucas, Lucas felt safe to tell Phillip that he was the one who had abducted Sami. Lucas couldn’t stand the thought of Sami reuniting with EJ, so he decided to make sure she couldn’t do just that. And now that Sami believes it was EJ who was responsible for her disappearance, she has decided to rekindle things with Lucas, far away from Salem. But if Phillip decides he needs to set things right not only for his own crimes, but for Lucas’ too, than Lucas might lose Sami for good. There is no way she will ever believe that Lucas could love her if he kept her away from her family for months!
