DOOL spoilers reveal that even before Sami came back to Salem, there was some name dropping. Of course, we are talking about EJ DiMera. While actor James Scott doesn’t seem to have any interest in returning, that doesn’t mean that a recast isn’t possible. Many times in soaps, name dropping usually indicates that the character is going to either return at some point, or will in another way become a central part of an upcoming storyline.

Deadline reported that Sweeney has a brand new deal with the NBC soap opera. While she will finish up her part in Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) baby storyline in September, she will be back soon after that. It is reported that she will be back in late 2020 and will be sticking around for much longer than we are used to. Sami will be seen on-screen for “most of 2021,” according to the report.

Fans have wanted EJ to come back for a long time. Even though Scott has expressed zero interest in returning, we could be looking at a recast sometime in the future. The story is unresolved and was just left hanging. So, it is only natural to assume that the story will be picked up at some point.
