Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Stefano DiMera (Stephen Nichols) tries to prevent Dr. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) from getting back Steve Johnson. It prompts her to make a bold decision in order to get back “Patch.” However, Kayla and Dr. Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) encounter unexpected complications during Steve’s surgery. He wakes up, but there is a “hitch.”

Stefano DiMera’s Desperation

DOOL spoilers reveal that Stefano is told that he is undergoing a procedure to revert him back to Steve. He obviously doesn’t want that to happen and does everything in his power to prevent it. However, he can’t stop it.

Stefano is only “alive” because his essence is in a brain chip that has been inserted into Steve’s neck. In reality, Stefano really isn’t alive and doesn’t really exist… it’s a computer program to put it in the most simplistic terms.

Knowing that Steve is in there somewhere, Kayla makes a bold, life-altering decision. While we don’t know the details, could she try to “reach” Steve by kissing “Steve-ano”?

Months ago, head writer Ron Carlivati teased that Kayla would be the key to getting Steve back. It was even mentioned that she would have to somehow reach Steve’s heart… that the brain chip only took over the intellect and had no bearing on the man’s emotions or feelings of love. Kissing “Steve-ano” might be the only way to reach the real Steve, that is inside of his body and mind somewhere.

Steve Johnson’s Surgery Has Complications

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Steve has surgery, but Kayla and Sarah face unexpected complications during the procedure. If the theory that Steve is brought back by Kayla’s kiss is right, then that means the surgery has to do with the eye. As seen in the spring preview clip, Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) literally stabs “Steve-ano” in the eye with her high heel.

It is teased that Steve wakes up from the surgery and he is himself, but there is a “hitch.” It could be something as simple as him needing the patch again. Or it could be something more complicated. We do get the impression that Steve doesn’t know everything that happened while he was “Stefano.”

For one, he is told about Adrienne Kiriakis’ (formerly Judi Evans) death and sobs over losing his sister. It will be very much like when Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) woke up from her one-year coma. Steve is going to be stunned by everything that he missed.
