In soap forums and on social media, fans are confused about Ciara’s personality change. It’s a common misconception that people with amnesia retain their personalities. Some do appear to be the same kind of people. However, there are many who are completely different. Part of this could be the extent of their head trauma and other brain areas that are affected. The other part of it has to do with their memories, which also contain their unique experiences.

As an example, I once knew a woman who had partial amnesia for the most recent 10 years of her life and didn’t remember her own daughter. Pre-amnesia, she was funny, empathetic and creative. Couldn’t add in her head if her life depended on it. After her car accident, she became cruel, had no sense of humor and had zero creativity. Somehow, she became a whiz at numbers, though. To answer the question, yes, sometimes amnesiacs will undergo complete personality changes. Granted, this is a soap and not real life, but Ciara’s personality change isn’t as unrealistic as it seems.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Ciara’s personality change actually makes sense. She is missing three years of her life. As fans may recall, Ciara was a pretty angry teen and young adult. She was angry when she first connected with Ben. In fact, her bitterness and resentment is the whole reason she took off on the motorcycle the night of the accident.

Human beings are strongly influenced by their personal experiences. That’s why when you see someone after 20 years of being apart, they can be totally different. Some experiences make us more empathetic, stronger or more afraid. Experiences can even make us bitter and mean to others.

It might not even be one specific incident that “changes” us, but a series of events that eventually alters how we interact with others and how we feel about ourselves or life in general.

DOOL Spoilers – The ‘Real’ Ciara Brady Will Return

When Ciara connected with Ben as he took care of her foot injury, it changed her. He was able to reach Ciara while others weren’t. Ciara coped with terrible teenage traumas, including being raped by her stepbrother. Somehow, Ben was able to reach Ciara’s heart and soften her. It made her into the adult that we saw prior to her amnesia.

With that being said, will the “real” Ciara eventually return? It all depends, to be honest. Her post-amnesia experiences might make her a bit different depending on how much they affect her. But since this is a fictional story, we are betting the “real” Ciara comes back. For right now, Ciara’s cruelty might be frustrating for “CIN” fans. However, it will make the victory of her remembering that much more meaningful and memorable for years to come.
