When the Days Of Our Lives cast learned that the soap opera would leave NBC to move to Peacock, some reportedly felt shocked. And Robert Scott Wilson called his initial reaction “jarring.” But the Days Of Our Lives star now sees many advantages to shifting from the network to the streaming service, he told TV Insider.

“The initial news was a little bit jarring because it was so abrupt,” admitted Wilson. “I knew that it was in the works and that it was just a matter of time. But the overall idea of it, I knew was coming. The producers talked to us and that made us feel so much better.”

And now that the Days Of Our Lives star has adjusted, he feels enthusiastic about the opportunities. For instance, Robert recognizes that streaming services such as Peacock can go beyond network TV in terms of language and scenes with sexual content. And Wilson feels open to the potential. However, the Days Of Our Lives star hopes that this brave new world for Peacock will add value and push the boundaries tastefully.

As Robert looks ahead, he expressed hope that fans will join the cast in moving from NBC to Peacock. And he shared the discount that the streaming service has offered. To encourage Days Of Our Lives viewers to sign up, Peacock has reduced the price from $4.99 a month to $1.99 a month. 

And Wilson gushed, “Plus, you get not only DAYS but all the Peacock programming. It’s fantastic. That’s the thing – you’re getting so much in addition to DAYS.” For instance, the actor noted that Peacock offers “incredible content and a library of old and new TV and in better quality. We have new cameras at the studio. It’s a new product. You’re not just paying to watch DAYS on a website. It’s a platform filled with content you’re going to watch.”

In addition, the Days Of Our Lives star discussed his new character of Alexander Kiriakis. Because Wilson made the transition from Ben Weston to Alex, he felt “nervous” at first. But the change gave Robert the opportunity to work with different actors. And “that definitely helps,” shared the actor.

The Days Of Our Lives star expressed appreciation for working with different cast members. “I love working with new people,” noted Wilson. And he recalled “shared moments with John Aniston [Victor] and Suzanne Rogers [Maggie]. But the relationship with Alex and [his brother] Sonny [Zach Tinker] is new. I was nervous in the best way possible and hadn’t been in a long time when I first began. [Actors switching roles on the same show] has been done with big names in daytime. However, I think this is the record for turnaround time.”

But the Days Of Our Lives star did admit to some anxiety about fans accepting him in his new role so quickly. “This was like 10 days!” pointed out Wilson. “People weren’t even caught up on shows and I was back [as Alex]. I love Ben and I loved playing him,” added the actor. Calling his role of Ben a “success,” Robert noted, “I knew there are some die-hard fans of his.” And he hopes that those fans will value Wilson “as an actor. This opportunity to play someone new has been one of the greatest compliments and blessings I’ve ever received.”
