Daytime drama news reveals that the 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards is the latest casualty of the ongoing writer’s strike. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced today that the awards show as well as the Creative Arts & Lifestyle Awards, both scheduled for mid-June, have been postponed.
The 50th annual Daytime Emmys were scheduled to air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Friday June 16th. But the show will not go on because the Writer’s Guild of America is at an impasse with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers.
Daytime Emmy Awards Postponed
NATAS President and CEO, Adam Sharp issued the following statement: “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards planned for Friday June 16 on CBS is postponed due to the WGA strike. In addition, the Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony, planned for Saturday, June 17, has been postponed pending a strike resolution. We look forward to our community gathering together as one to celebrate our Golden Anniversary and all of the talented nominees and honorees at a later date.”

Emmy Awards Postponed Due to Writer’s Strike
Last week the Tony Awards Management Committee asked the WGA for a waiver which was denied. An appeal was filed on Monday and the union stated that they would not grant a waiver or exception for the June 11 ceremony a waiver or exception, but also indicated that they would not picket the ceremonies.
Tony Awards Are Scheduled To Move Forward
One day later the writer’s guild issued a statement in regard to the Tony event being held: “Responsibility for having to make changes to the format of the 2023 Tony Awards rests squarely on the shoulders of Paramount/CBS and their allies. They continue to refuse to negotiate a fair contract for the writers represented by the WGA.”
