The History Of It All
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences merged the Outstanding Younger Actor and Outstanding Younger Actress categories into the Outstanding Younger Performer category in 2019 and then eliminated the award completely in 2023.
Head of Daytime and Children & Family Emmy Awards, Rachel Schwartz notes to TV Insider, “There were just not enough entries to consider it a viable category any longer. But it was never really our desire to remove a chance for some of the amazing on-screen talent in daytime to receive an Emmy.”
Schwartz goes on to say, “So this is going to be a new category specifically for people who are on their first daytime contract, so there is not necessarily an age parameter with it. Although, I do imagine that some of the people that enter into the category will be on the younger end of the spectrum.”
The Eligibility Factor
Those eligible for the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category must have a speaking role with a minimum of being in one continuous storyline on the show.

They can apply within the category during the first two years on their daytime drama, and after the fact, they will no longer be thought of as “emerging” talent.
In addition, after a talent wins this specific Daytime Emmy award, they will no longer be eligible to enter this category.
While the Daytime Emmys are normally held in the spring, the 52nd installment of the awards show will take place in October.
NATAS has not announced the deadline for submissions, when the 2025 Daytime Emmy nominations will be announced, and the date the ceremony is taking place, but keep visiting this site for updates as they trickle in.
