“Toy Story 4” saw Woody separate from Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang and decide to make the world his bedroom alongside Bo Peep. It was a painful goodbye, both onscreen and offscreen, as fans have grown attached to the beautiful relationship shared between Woody and Buzz, the once-upon-a-time enemies.
Woody also sacrificed his voice box to give a defective doll a chance at having her go at playtime. So there’s a lot for fans to look forward to in the fifth movie. And according to Tim Allen, a reunion is the main area of focus for scriptwriters.
Tim Allen And Tom Hanks To Return As the Voices of Woody and Buzz Lightyear
In February, the world learned the happy news that Disney is bringing back one of its most famous animated franchises for a fifth run. Later on, we learned that this upcoming installment is meant to be a reunion movie, with grownup Andy reportedly on a mission to reunite his old toys.
However, no one knows for sure the direction scriptwriters may want to go, and frankly, I don’t bank on the Andy one because I feel like it’ll take too much screentime away from the toys.
On Tuesday, Tim Allen appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and revealed that he and Hanks have been approached by Disney to reprise their voice roles. At least now we know they’re getting serious.
“Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on,” Allen said when Fallon questioned him on the seriousness of Disney regarding the production of “Toy Story 5.” “He actually said it was going to happen. They have reached out to Tom and I to reprise the roles, [but] they’re not saying anything about it.”
Allen continued: “What it is for people like me, it’s just like… you wonder if four was too many, is five going to be too much? The writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and he said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it,’ so it could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”
“I’d love to see it. They’re all great,” Fallon said of the “Toy Story” films.
Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, announced a couple months back that Disney has green-lit the sequels to “Toy Story,” “Frozen,“ and “Zootopia” much to the delight of Disney lovers.
