Great American Family original movie Someday at Christmas
Paul Greene (When Calls the Heart) and seven-time Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight (Midnight Train to Georgia, That’s What Friends Are For) will star in Someday at Christmas. Meanwhile, the original Christmas movie premieres on Great American Family in November. Moreover, the movie reunites Knight with former Motown chief, Suzanne de Passe (Longsome Dove, The Vivianne Carter Story, Daytime Divas).
Both stars will appear with talented actress and singer Jessica Lowndes. She is best known for her role on The CW teen drama series 90210. However, she has also starred in a number of Hallmark Channel movies and the 2020 Lifetime movie Too Close for Christmas.
Speaking of the upcoming movie, Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media said:
As anticipation builds for year two of Great American Christmas, we are delighted to be working with the incomparable Gladys Knight who has inspired generations of fans by pushing musical boundaries with her numerous hit songs.
With high-caliber performances from Knight and the talented Jessica Lowndes and Paul Greene, Someday at Christmas is a truly magical Christmas movie steeped in original music that audiences will want to see again and again.
What is the movie about?
According to the press release, Someday at Christmas features Holly Bose (Lowndes), a full-time sales clerk and part-time chorus girl who is planning to become a Broadway star. However, as she anxiously counts, on one hand, the number of auditions she has remaining, she is thinking of throwing in the towel on her five-year plan to become a star.
Meanwhile, Holly has several short and literal run-ins with jingle writer (and seasonal Santa), Jason Murphy (Greene). Moreover, there is a spark, but it’s complicated. Holly has her eye n the world’s biggest stage, while Jason is beyond protective about bringing new relationships into his young daughter’s life. While he is well-intentioned, Jason makes Holly feel like she is auditioning for yet another role. Due to this, it would make sense if romance never happened.
However, wealthy real estate landlord, Cora Ross (Knight) often turns one bit of magic into another. In fact, Cora spotted the spark between Holly and Jason and has her heart set on bringing the two together. To do so, she plans to get them to star in the town’s annual “Holiday Lane Christmas Concert.”
In Holly, Cora has her aspiring lead, while in Jason, she has a jingle writer capable of writing a new Christmas classic. With Cora in charge, the off-Broadway show will have everyone falling in love with Christmas.
When does Someday at Christmas premiere?
While no official premiere date has been announced, readers can look forward to seeing this iconic Christmas movie in November on Great American Family.
