47th Daytime Emmy Awards Update – What You Need To Know About The Nominations and Event!

The coronavirus has affected plenty of things including the upcoming Daytime Emmy Awards which would have been held in June. It was recently announced that the upcoming 47th award event was postponed due to the pandemic. NATAS in their announcement revealed that they were looking at alternative ways to make the presentation to the awardees.

In the past, it was expected that the nominations would be unveiled by the end of April. With the issues surrounding the pandemic, that was pushed back. Now, we have an update for you that by Mid-May the nominations would be unveiled, and everyone will know who made the nomination list.

In an interview with soaps.com, Adam Sharp, NATAS CEO and President announced that the nominations would be unveiled a few weeks later than originally planned. He told them, “We are going to be announcing them early – to mid-May because we extended our judging window somewhat to account for (the current health concerns). We’re still figuring out how it’ll be presented; obviously it’ll be virtual, so a mix of press release and social media.”

As for the status of the upcoming event, he added, “For the Daytime Emmys, it’s a little more difficult. There were simply no other dates we could present in the usual form. There’ll be a mix of some online and virtual elements, but the hope is that things return to some form of normal in a time frame that allows us to do some live events as well, but however you slice it the ceremonies will take a different form than originally planned.

The Daytime Emmy Awards are held annually with actors submitting their reels for the year. The first segment is where the pre-nominees are announced in the early part of the year and the second segment is where the nominees are unveiled by the third or fourth month of the year.

The nominees are recognized by their showrunners, colleagues, and fans on social media when the list is revealed. Then the stars and fans would have to wait until the event is held at some point in May. At the big event, the list of nominees is once again announced with their submitted reels showcased. In the end, the winner of the category is announced. The said winner steps to the stage to collect their winning trophy and then share their thank you speech.
