The global pandemic that is the coronavirus outbreak has forced millions of people from all over the world to stay at home and practice social distancing to help stop the spread of the virus. And while this might be good news for the daytime television industry – as many more people are tuning in to catch up with their latest soaps – the three major networks have halted production for the time being. So, what does this mean for the soap world and new episodes for the next several weeks? Here’s what you need to know.

Before it was announced that the major networks would be halting production of the four daytime television shows to keep both their cast and crew safe during these very uncertain times, actor William DeVry, who plays Julian Jerome on General Hospital, assured fans that they had enough material for new episodes to help fans while they are staying home during the coronavirus quarantine.

According to Soaps in Depth, the actor said, “We have so much material in the can. We hope this is a great chance for all of you to stay home with your families. Stay safe. And watch General Hospital.”
The actor added that General Hospital has enough material to run through at least the beginning of May, but seeing how the situation with the coronavirus outbreak is changing every day, there’s a possibility that some areas of the country will be quarantined for much longer than others.
Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update: Classic Episodes For Y&R
Meanwhile, The Young and the Restless has announced that they will be airing classic episodes from the past. So far producers from The Bold and the Beautiful have not provided an update as to what they plan on doing after airing all of their new episodes. Days of Our Lives, as many fans know, tape six months in advance and as of press time, the show has enough material to run new episodes until at least the beginning of October.
