General Hospital – Alum John Stamos Teases His Memoir

John Stamo, 59, has come a long way since he stepped onto the set of General Hospital. For instance, after leaving the show in 1984, Stamos struck gold on Full House. And he then went from comedy to drama in the medical hit, ER.  As a result, John promises that his memoir will cover all those experiences in front of the camera as well as behind, noted MSN.

Set for release next fall, If You Would Have Told Me explores John’s professional career and personal life. But despite praise from critics and even a nomination for an Emmy Award, Stamos made a confession. And he shared that he still feels like “a misunderstood heartthrob who has always remained a dorky kid from Orange County.”

But John also will describe how, in midlife, he chose sobriety. And from there, the actor longed for his own family. As Stamos looks back at his life, he also credits his friendship with his late co-star Bob Saget for helping him achieve what he wanted. “If You Would Have Told Me is the book I never planned to write,” admitted John. “But after losing Bob, finally becoming a father, and wanting to honor all the colorful people who have made me who I am today, I figured if not now, when?”

John Stamos – Promises A Memoir Full Of Hollywood Fame And ‘F**kups’!

However, the General Hospital alum also showcased his sense of humor. And Stamos told fans to expect to learn his version of “Hollywood, fame, fortune and f**kups.” But John turned serious in looking at the personal aspect of his memoir.

“It’s also about home, heart, and healing,” explained Stamos. “Redemption then gratitude. Honestly, while writing this book I’ve realized I have about a million stories to tell.” And he made a promise to his fans who buy his memoir. “And I think you may like at least four hundred of them,” added the actor.

For John, penning the memoir involved some sorrow in recalling heartbreak. But he also found the personal journey rewarding. As a result, Stamos calls the memoir “something between a confession and a challenge to find grace in the smallest moments of our lives. I hope my memoir offers a window into my heart and mind.”

And the General Hospital alum hopes that his readers discover “little moments of magic that make life worth living. Get everything you want and live happily ever after,” Stamos added. “But have the humility to trust in something greater than yourself for guidance.”
